Metal cost for aussie comp ramp?

Hi
Im looking at making an aussie comp ramp and does anyone know a rough cost for the full amount of metal for the aussie comp ramp? What metal would I use?

you need to use 40x40x2.5 steel & about 75m of it, cost for just metal is $500 to 800 depending where you go.

then you have welding & cutting costs

O & dont for get the $100 to 200 for getting 2 of your lenghts bent to the 9.1 radius


i know this off hand coz im making one at this very moment

Would I use galvanized steel and what type of welder would I use?

get the painted stuff, galv will go all funny when ya weld it

I would get the gal, then just get some gal paint and paint the weld, it will last heaps longer, only cost you 20% more for the steel and just hold up better for longer. I have made skate ramps out of the stuff and they lasted years in the weather and still looked brand new.

hey mate, I use one of these at school a fair bit and they're great. quiet, powerfull and easy to use. 2 thumbs up from me:thumbup::thumbup:. mig's are great too but if you bunch up the cable the wire will get cought and tangle up in the cable. then you'll have the great job of getting out the tangled up wire and feeding new wire through. so you got to try and keep the cable as straight as you can if you get a mig.
