Hey fellas :)

Let me start by letting you know that i know sweet FA about bikes, my knowledge on this is terribly limited....

My son in law has just purchased this bike and has told me the carby MAY have gone on it from what it seems??? He's pretty pissed off at the moment, so quite hard to talk to and get more info out of... and since i know nothing of this kinda thing, i am probably making it a bit hard on you guys, so apologies for that...

I need some help identifying the bike and where i might be able to find a new carby for it (cheaply) or what brands etc to search for to have it replaced... He did mention something about 2 forks and a float and it was leaking fuel or some **** too if that helps?

If you need more info or closer pics or what not, just let me know... like i said - pretty clueless with this ****, but just want to try and help him out a bit :)

Thanks guys!

Looks like a Motoworks to me.

it looks like it has a Lifan 125 in it?
there is a model number stamped into the case below the front sprocket. like 1P54FMJ or similar

a china copy Mikuni like this will work.

it may need to have a bigger pilot jet fitted, you will need to remove the fuel bowl from the bottom of the carby, 4 screws hold it on.
get a #20 pilot jet for it if you can, this bigger jet will help the off idle-1/4 throttle response

the pilot jets are the 3 in the bottom of the pic

Looks like a xmotos bike, elstars were selling these a while ago also. Klx plastics fit but will need to reuse the two rear side panels with that type of frame. Like Craig linked the mikuni 26 copy will be fine.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm fairly sure it's an Orion, had the same bike as one of my first bikes, same frame, plastics, swing arm, engine, everything.

+1 to that because the name pops into my head when looking at it it must be orion

Yeah there basically the same bike, kind of like the Atomik nitrous and pitpro 125rr so to speak, just a few small differences, both based on some BBR copy components, and the bike in mention def follows the Orion build with the flat sided frame and brake discs.

Thank you rotn50 :)
anyway with your carby it most likley will be fine and what you need to do is pull it off apart and clean it out and you should be on your way :)

Thank you guys so much for all your input and help, it's much appreciated!!

I actually spoke to a repair shop this morning aswell, and linked him to this page, and he mentioned the carby MAY just require a good clean out from what he saw, as you guys have mentioned also.

Hi grandfather is pretty good with mechanics and the like aswell, so we will take the bike round there for him to check out first tonight - if we don't need to spend the money to fix it, we would much prefer not to, as he only paid $200 for it :)

It's good to have an idea of what kind of bike it is for future refernce also, so can't thank you guys enough for your input :)

I will update later when we take it apart, thanks again fellas! :)

strip the carby down,
when you take the fuel bowl off, be sure to dry the gasket/seal asap, so it wont expand, otherwise you may have trouble making it seal again.
you will need to take the fuel bowl off,
2x jets out,
choke out,
float off,
needle and seat out,
and mixture screw with spring,
and give the carby/parts, a good soaking in petrol/carby cleaner

then starting with the carby body, blow out all of the ports/gallerys with compressed air.
clean the 2 brass jets thoroughly, so you can see through all the tiny holes, both through the middle and through the sides
also note down the numbers written on the jets for future reference.

the main jet screws into the centre hole of the carby, when looking at the carby upside down (fuel bowl off)
the pilot jet is screwed in slightly off centre, towards the manifold side of the carb.
where the pilot jet screws into, there is a small hole that goes through to the main bore of the carby,
this pilot jet feeds the fuel into the carby at idle & upwards, through this hole.
hold the carby up to a light and check this hole is open/see through.
even poke a strand of wire into it to make sure it is clear (pull out a wire from a wire brush)
blow the carby out well with compressed air,
making sure you can feel it coming out somewhere else in the carby (other end of that port/gallery)

also, while the carby is off,
check that the manifold and fuel bowl mounting faces are square/flat, sometimes they warp for being over tightened.

the mixture screw can either be refitted to the adjustment it was set at previously,
or a good base setting for the mixture screw, is being turned out 1.5 turns from being done up snug into the carby body.

it may pay to remove and flush the fuel tank and tap while you are at it.
that way you know there wont be any foreign bodys inside it waiting to clog up the clean carby and fuel tap.
they commonly have plastic filings etc when when they were manufactured, and possibly dirt/etc from old jerry cans.
if any of this gets stuck in the needle/seat the carby will flood, or not flow enough to let the bike run properly.

if you have any problems with the carby/setup etc

cheers, craig
