Need help wtih Carby slide

Need help with once I've got the slide out of carby how do u get the cable out of the slide for the life of me I can't work it out could someone tell me the easiest way to get it out

you should be able to compress the spring by holding the cap in your hand and grabbing the spring with your fingers and using your other hand to work the cable out (you just need to push about 10mm of cable out and feed it into the bigger hole so it can come out of the slide)

also give the cable as much slack as you can with adjusters and whatnot

undo the 2 screws and lift the slide out.
now pull the spring up into the cap as much as you can and hold it there.
now push the plastic cover in the centre front edge of the slide upwards, with a small flat headed screwdriver, and you will see the cable
now pop the cable out of the recess and it will come apart.

Except^ I'm using a different cable so yours probably looks a little bit different. And the black plastic piece in the center has been removed too.
