The Chinese look like they are now trying to step up into the 450cc dirt bike market with bikes like this MCF450-R. They claim it has about 46HP and it has a price tag of a little over $6000. I still dont understand why they cant put a decent set of tyres on their bikes.

Whats your thoughts on it?

Wow... It looks pretty good to me, i like the airbox. i haven't owned a brand new 450 in ages but i suppose they are all pretty similar now. I guess the 46hp thing will be a bit like the 18hp 160cc... but i'm sure it will still be good value for money none the less. Although at 6000 i know i wouldn't buy one, you can get 4 MSO's for that price :p

to be honest,

if your going to spend 5k on a new china bike why not spend 5k on a 2nd hand 2 or 3 year old honda ???

might be just me but ino what id be buying a 2nd hand jap over that anyday

word

^^^

haha, and if somthing did go wrong pretty sure to find a part it'd be a 1 in a million, even if the dealer did sell parts.

they look alright but i dont think i'd shell out for one, think id rather spend the cash on a 2nd hand jap bike, or at least untill they've been out for awhile and have proven themselves

Yeah they LOOK ok .... but our little chinese friends are great at polishing turds and pumping out cheap copies .... so not convinced ...like the boys are sayin you can get a pretty new honda for that sort of
coin.If all ya get is a new piece of sh@t then as soon as ya kick it over it's gunna be a second hand piece of [email protected]'d rather a second hand honda

Im scared, a cheap and nasty 450, what a death trap

Looks very interesting indeed.

I would like to see how it held up on the trails for a day. That would be the real test.

no way

ya can get a crf450 second had that will smoke that thing for about 5

hell i've seen yzf426's in the post for under 4

china big bikes worry me

i've been told the linkage in the new motovert 250 is destroying it's self
the guys thats been fixing them told me

6grand is a lot of cash for a bike with noname acessories on it(fork, shock, handlebars, etc.) as long as the yellowman doesen^t step up in the quality control, there is no way that a bike like this can be any concurence to Jap bikes!!
I wouldn^t mind to buy an engine like this though ...for 600$...??:D:D

well they do look the part, and i like the air box easy and quick access......but i would like to ride one to se how they hold up :D......im sure i could kill it in a day

if u could get 2 for 6g it would be alright, i think the power figure is around 34hp.

34hp  now when you think about how heavy a 450 is, its gunna be a very slow bike i mean my 250f is 33hp i think? dont quote me on that

The thing I find funny is that everyone wants better quality bikes to come out of China but nobody is willing to pay the price and remember quality doesnt come cheap regardless of where it is built.
I am not saying this bike is good or bad coz I havnt even seen it up close but I just thought it was interesting. As far as I know these bikes are still untested as far as reliability and rider reviews so until then its basically just a photo to me with some very very similar specs to the CRF450X attached :p.

Oh and the price is actually $6990

Im told it is built in China by a company that specialises in making cars, light trucks and 4x4 400cc bikes etc. Not all of the parts are made in China, some parts come from other countries for example the suspension is from Taiwan.

Being the curious person that I am I just sent an email to Down under Dirt bikes asking about these bikes and this is the reply I received:

The MCF450-R at the moment comes in 1 model only. Its based on a Honda 450X , it has a wide ratio gear box , so its tall in the gearing, the suspension is made in Taiwan (not China) the its as good as any jap bike, the frame was built by a Italian company so its as good as anything out of japan or europe, its a CV carby so that makes it great on fuel, but its lower on power then a piston type carb, but if you want more power you can retro fit a Mikuni flat or a Kiehin really easy.
Odes supplies a spares kit that includes a (piston, rings, top end gaskets, oil filter, 51T rear sprocket and some promo gear) NO WARRANTY on a off road bike like this, But we have all spares in stock at a price at least 40% below a bigger brand name company, in saying that most of the MCF is common like the seat and plastics, fuel tank is the same as CRF450X and the brake pads the same, as well as the piston, rings, crank, rod, clutch, infact we fit Honda factory parts with these parts.
Price is $6990.00 inc gst and freight anywhere in Australia (almost anywhere)
Really were pretty happy with the first model of the 450 , it go's well and looks great, Ive done over 1000ks on mine now and its getting better all the time.

There will be a number of stories on this bike in 3 different mags over the next couple of months, AFB are doing a ride test next week and just bikes have already done one and gave it bike of the month for april.

We will have a on road version in early 2010 its being tested now , but as you know Australian government takes there time getting things done, so were in there hands to when we can release it.

Ken Higgins
