newbie with questions !

hi there , i am new in here and i am after some advice...
i want to get my daughter into riding and she is 10yrs old but not the tallest and hasnt ridden a trail bike before.. she has been on the back of my husky 510 and wants her own bike. so, questions are, whats the best available bike at around/up to the 600 mark, and what size/clutch/gear combo should i buy for her to learn on and something i can restrict power wise till she gets the hang of it ! her push bike is a 20" if that give any indication on frame size/height suitable...

i want to take her to mx tracks with me and some forest trails locally (quiter area's where she can practice) so also interested in bikes suitable for her in that terrain. needs to be reliable and not too expensive(probably a tall order)...anyway, thanks for any info you can provide on this matter.

For the money you want to spend i would buy an atomik motox 70. I had one when i was your daughters age and loved it. not to tall and nothing broke on it! just keep the usual maintainence which you should be used to with your 510. it is a 4 speed semi auto 70cc 4 stroke, nothing went wrond with the engine at all. bulletproof if u ask me. chuck a good set of tyres on it and your ready for the bush.

Or a little more expensive go for this, all over better quality and will proably last longer, in saying that i had the atomik for 1 and a half years then my brother had it for another 2 and we sold it to a bloke in confidence.

Something like the bikes in the links are all you're gunna get for $500 to $600 ... Remember ... postage/delivery has to be added to the cost of the bike ... I'd look for a bike that's kick start only (if possible) without all the other crap to cause problems ... The only other alternative is to build a bike yourself from whatever parts you desire ...

$500 to $600 , quality and reliable don't really fit together in the same sentence when you're talking new bikes ...

i understand the cost to quality reference is going to be a point of debate but in the same thing, if the motox70 lasts for 3 1/2 yrs then thats fine.. i always spend a small fortune on maintaining the husky so its not a problem to fix/maintain a pit bike as maintenance is key to longivity in any bike/car etc.. i'll have a look at the ones suggested here and also have a look at what tracks allow the bikes as i read that some places dont allow them.. shocking really ...

also, can the 70 atomik be restricted on the throttle ? or have cut off ?

if you can stretch to about 1000, you could get her a pee wee 80, great bike, reliable as and good fun to learn on, and if you want her to go slow just put it in second..

got a lot of protective gear to buy aswell so need to limit the bike price.. i know the resell will be better on a jap but will see what we can do !

A PW80 in good condition is an excellent bike for a girl to learn on ... We took a 15 year old beginner riding and she had a ball riding it all day long ... you couldn't get her off it ... LOL ...

You'd need a 70 to 110 cc semi auto 4 stroke engine in a decent frame with decent wheels if you're thinking of riding on MX tracks ... BUT ... most tracks won't allow chinese bikes , Jap trail bikes OR modified 4 stroke engines in Jap MX frames ... You have to ride a later model purpose built MX bike ...

That's Australia for ya' ... we have tons of land but not enough legal places to ride unregisterable recreational bikes ...

that bike will be perfect for her.. PERSONALLY if it was my choice I would hit buy it now..

any throttle can be modded allowing you to restrict how far it can be opened, you just need to put a screw or bolt in the housing at the point where you want it to stop, very easy to do.

I'd either go with a DHZ 110 or a PW80, they cost more but will hold up much better than a motox 70 plus I reckon she'd grow out of the 70 pretty quick.

here's a couple more to look at which would be much better than the motox bike, plus they come with a helmet:

I agree with the guys above, spend a bit more and get her a good bike. PW80 is the go

ah its not just the cash, its the case of whether she will keep at it etc.. we are going over to see it tonight as the guy has still offered her to have a ride on it to see if she scares or enjoys...

I've never seen a KAZUMA before but going by the pics it looks like garbage, it's one of the earlier experimental china bikes that failed and 50cc china engine would be way too slow for a big bike like that

ok, got her a kazuma viper 50 .
exact same bike as pw80 down to the nut and bolt... tell them apart ?
been told, made in same factory and also same as coyote jianshe and my mate had a meerkat quad for years and his lads flogged it to death but never broke so hope its as good as that !
had a look at my mates nephews bike and its identical in every single way...anyway, got it for 370 bucks ! rides great and goes well for what it is and lets her see whats what ! and also carries my 70kg about no problem so thats a bbq play toy sorted !

pretty easy to tell them apart..

different clutch side cover
different kick starter
different side plastics...
front guard is different..

now pw50/80 are 2 stroke, this one appears to be a 4 stroke (reason clutch cover is different)
now also on a side note... this is not made in the same factory...jianshe is the only 1 and in actual fact yamaha ended up buying them out.
but this one does seem to share alot of the same parts..

but all in all hope all goes well... should get some good riding out of it..
