Oil Change, Now Not Starting

Hey All,
First post,
And first bike.

Went to do my first oil change, two day's after I bought the bike, had been for a small ride before the change, and everything was fine.

Did the oil change, now it's not starting up.

We were having issues last night, and finally got it going, seemed originally to be an issue with the tightness of the bolt im assuming compression problem's.

We could get the bike started, but it sounded fairly rough, and stalled through gear changes. Im guessing it may be an issue with the amount of oil used? How much is recommended for a 125cc bike?

Currently im draining out the sump, and going to give it a bit of time to drain/dry, then will try again.

Also noticed a bit of smoke pop from the carby after all the effort's last night, unsure if that would have done any damage etc.

Any idea guys?

Ok, replaced the oil, and tried with 50% of what read on the Level, and then around 80%, still with no luck.

Its not even starting and cutting out, its just not starting at all.

Any idea guys?

doesnt matter if u over fill, oil will come out the crank case breather

Strip what, the engine?

You wouldnt think there would be a problem that big would you, the bike is only a week old.

could be the cdi, try disconnecting and reconnecting the cdi and other electrics one by one, then try to start the bike?

CDI? Sorry, im only new to bikes lol.

sorry, just look under the tank/rear guard, locate the wires and clips, unclip and reclip, just to eliminate another possibility.

Yep, Unclip'd/Reclip'd all three, and didnt help unfortunately.

Any other idea's guys?

Battery is almost dead now, after all the trying to start it, so need to get the bike started to charge it up a bit lol.

Ummm ... which bolt did you take off ???

Left or Right side ? The bolt on the left side of the bike closest to the gear lever on the motor is the cams tention adjuster and if you took this out you will have set the cam chain to tight or loose which is problly your problem.. or it's slipped a tooth and now the cams outta wack or its come off all together and not turning the cam over thus not opening and closing the valves..

The bolt on the left side closest to the dip stick on the motor is the drqain bolt ... tightness wouldn't matter , changing oil wont affect the bike one bit you've done somthing else... i beleive my first idea is what has happened..

Just read over your posts again... One other thing may be , check the breather hose coming out of the gearbox case, if its pinched closed you'll pressurise the motor and she wont go ... open the dipstick and it'll releve pressure , then build up again and wont go ... Can do major damage, and its a common fault with some of the cheap china bikes, built quickly , things get over looked by quality control.

The bolt I took off was the Drain Bolt, though I may have had a quick fiddle with the other one? But having a quick look then, I couldnt move it at all, so I doubt I touched it yesterday either.

Having a quick look at some of the hose's, the Breather Hose for im Assuming the Carbie/Fuel Tank (Clear Hose with a Spring) was blocked off, when I had a fiddle fuel came pouring out, still not starting, but could this have been the problem?

check the spark plug may be fouled ,put a new one in may solve your problem,

Yeah have you checked for spark ?

The hose i was talking about is a must check... It comes out the top of the gear box and runs down the back of the motor near the swingarm on the chain side normal.. check the pic.. it has a metal p-clip that holds it in place and sometime the hose p-clip kinks the hose and blocks it..

Might be starving for fuel. A blocked breather will create a vaccum and can cause this. Also sometimes new tanks have bits of plastic which can get into the carby and cause problems. Clean the carby then start looking at electrical if thats not it.

Ok, have recharged the battery, and still having issues.
Have checked the spark plug, and there is still spark, it is slightly weak, but it is still sparking.
Doesnt seem like there is any issues with any of the hoses, so I guess I should be looking at cleaning out the Carby?
It's not really even turning over, Electric, or Jump starting it.

I have a similar bike, and like Mack said the breather on the gas cap on mine was crap and my engine wasn't getting fuel. I threw the breather away and replaced it with a longer piece of 1/4 inch fuel line. I now no longer have a problem. you might also want to check the fuel petcock to see if its plugged. Prior to gasing up my new bike I blew the tank out with compressed air, it was full of plastic shavings..

Might have to take the fuel out and test for the shavings then man.

Petcock = Petrol cap breather? If you know what I mean?

Im a bit of a 'Noob' when it comes to bike's, and bike parts lol.

Blink, the gas cap breather is the thing at the end of that clear plastic tube on your gas cap. You can just get rid of it and replace with about 5" of l1/4" tubing. Just tuck the tubing behind your front number plate. The fuel petcock is your gas on/off lever on the right under side of the gas tank. If you unplug the gas line going into the carby and turn the petcock to the on position it should flow out fuel from the gas tank if there is any in there. If not its plugged. Your problem sounds like a fuel one.
