hey guys i am wondering where i can get some cheap parts and if u can tell me what brand parts are good i want these parts
1)pro taper hi-rise bars
2) aftermarket CDI
3) metal throttle mechanisim??
4)carby 25mm mikuni?

these parts are for a AGB29 orion
thanks guys

Yer mate, as Scott said all those things are on ebay, let us know if u got any difficulty with fitting decisions etc:D:)

yeah but what cdi is good as there is so many

If your china cdi is still working, save your money for other stuff. If you want to make timing improvements you can buy offset key for the flywheel or slot the pickup. I don't know that there is any benefit in any but the most expensive aftermarket CDI's. Some are rumoured to perform worse than a stock china. They don't have the same restrictions as honda units.

Takegawa
ADA

Are the Only CDI's That will make a difference. Waste of money in my eyes. Spend your money on Other stuff dude.

if youve got a ducar, dont bother slotting the pick up. The mounts are the things holding it in place so your not going to get F.A timing movement. CDI's are a waste of time, i seriously doubt these cdi's would have varying ignition curves, as they have no throttle pickup mechanism, no vac pick up and no centrifigal advance mechanisms. The cdi would have alot of trouble picking up when to advance or retard timing, and may run off only fluctuations in engine rpm which would be rather slow. It would take alot of R&D to map ignition curves etc... R&D seems to be an area these mass production outfits cut their expenses.

Spend your money on big bore, high comp pistons, balancing your crank, cam shafts and porting.

the Takegawa and ADA arent Mass produced units. Takegawa and ADA Prove there products and are known for Awesome Products.

Can you get some graphs of ignition curves etc?

What pickups do they run off? Just engine rpm?

How do they 'prove their products'?

not having a go, just surprised that if they are as good as you claim them to be, they're not recomened as a #1 upgrade.

Scotty. How do I get the information off these knuckleheads who sell on e bay. Cheap aint always the best if you don't have the info to make it work.

The only cdi to work is Kitaco and you'll need an adaptor cable. The whole kit will set you back about $110.

Is noidea a car mechanic? Sound like it with all the question about vac advance and the like. Bikes are different dude. CDI's do work. mainly in Rev limiter but also in advance curve. You sound like you should get some CDI's and map the advance curves and then you won't be so scepticle of the biggest selling performance part the mini world knows of.

As I posted in another thread, some testing and mapping has been done on all commonly available cdi's by a guy in the states with his own dyno. He hasn't published all the results yet but has divulged some interesting facts.

None tested had a limiter. The units were tested in a bike in good tune and in one with poor tuning. The bike in poor tune showed the greater improvement with some cdi's as the greater spark intensity helped clean up bad jetting and intake problems. This may explain why some think aftermarket cdi's are magic. But for a bike in good tune I suspect he is going to reveal that some aftermarket cdi's performed worse than a stock one.

Edit-I will post a link to this guys work, if and when he makes it public. It is a great service to the mini world at his own expense and time. We need more testing like this.

I think you'll find that most Japanese CDI's work well on Japanese bikes with limiters and there is an improvement accross the board on other bike too. NONE will work worse than stock! Why would they make them otherwise?

I'll wait for the results of over 70 dyno pulls to make my judgement on what is **** and whats not. I only said I suspect. Problems with the timing curve are the main concern here.
