PitPro 125 rr 07', the choke is confusing me...

I have recently bought a 2007 pitpro 125rr and i cant tell when the choke is on or not, I am told it's on when the engine is spluttering a bit, but I'm not sure because it seems to have more power when its like that. The switch goes either forward or backward, maybe another pitpro owner might know which way is on? damn chinese bike....!I'm not a mechanicly minded person at all so be nice

choke lever down for off on this carb DHZ Mini Moto - Mikuni 26mm Racing Carburetor Kit
and with this 1 you can remove the air filter to see which is on and which is off DHZ Mini Moto - Mikuni 30mm Racing Carburetor Kit note...when the butterfly is closed then the choke is on..
