Is it really that dangerous to remove the spark arrestor, I read this artical written with by a bunch of americans they seem to think that people not running the arrestor run a high risk of starting bush fires, is this cause for concern or more american b s?

American BS mate. They probably lay their bikes in the grass fondling with themselves and setting the grass alight.

but does it really spark that much with out it, cause flames sound like alot of fun at night time. lol

Thats what i recon too. Lean it right out. Take the spark aresstor out. Get it shooting flames and go cruising. Hope ya mate dont ride to close behind or he will singe his eye brows.

Sorry, registed like a 450 or something, kinda like a cat for pollution but an arrestor for spark. Would it be illegal to remove apart from the obvious noise part.

If your riding a registerd bike bush in summer then you want one. Your bike will blow the occasional spark and you wouldn't want to risk a massive bush fire.

Track then rip it out.

Oh and this is an international forum so easy on the slander hey.

Not sure what you mean?? Are you talking about an un registered bike??

Guy here in SA got reamed for not having a spark arrestor on his ute which sparked a fire, people died.

I got defected for having a straight through cannon on my RS.

If you exhaust is straight through you need the mesh in. It places next to zero restriction on your power, so why take it out.

All the kool kids leave it in :p

Motorman is right. Over in America you need a green sticker to ride through national parks or almost anywhere and they are more uptight about it then we are. You won't get a green sticker if you have no spark arrestor. I just got a cr500 from America and it had one on it.

in the usa, most state operated and private riding areas and parks require a spark arrestor or baffle.

the spark arrestor is for more dryer areas and areas with lots of low vegetation, keep in mind 1/4-1/3 of our nation is covered in tallgrass plains or crops for food/animal feed.
the sun and heat alone can start a brush/plains fire, so obviously a spark from a exhaust could start one.

yes the police and game/park wardens do inforce the arrestor/baffle laws, depends on the area most of the time.

and to the first few replies, thanks for being rude and ignorant about the op's question, instead of posting useful info.

my spark arrestor ended up disintergrating itself from to much hot exhaust gasses, up here in townsville it is that dry that a really hot header section of the exhaust gets the grass cooking and smoking alone.
But i ended up using something more durable for the arrestor.
