Hey,
I saw a pack of 4 samurai mini quads and thought they could be great fun. But sometimes i forget im not a kid anymore, im about 5' 11' and was wondering if I would be too big for a 50cc Samurai quad? It would only be for a bit of fun, tinkering etc but I dont wanna spend the cash if I cant use em!! Also i realise they wont be the best quality but if I got a couple of days use I would be happy.

Thanks in advance,
Harley.

haha, yeh thats what I expect. They are meant to handle 95kg (im only ~80) so im more concerned about my height than anything.

if u n ur mates r gonna buy some mini quads togetherand thrash em n that... then i rekon u cant b wastin ur money :)

me n my mated got 3 70cc quads about 1 year ago........we thrashed them for a day then we came the next day and none of them would turn on lol

yeh i dont care if they dont turn on, i can always get new parts, i just want to know if i would fit on them ok. I realise they will be small, but they just need to be usable.

so would these 50cc be able to pull my weight around ok do you think?

sigh... some people dont know how to just answer the question effectivly.

yes you will fit, you will feel cramped slghtly for a while but you may get used to it.

thanks Bones. As you can probably tell im new to all this, would the 50cc be any good for me though power wise? I mean my yard is pretty small so I dont need to be hitting 40 clicks or anything (the reason why I wanted a small quad is because of smallish yard) but at the same time I would like it to have enough power to be fun.

Appreciate all the responses.

yeah it should be fine, i mean power wise your going to have to use your body weight to get mono's going etc... but other than that it should be okay. speed wise if you give it enough room you may reach top speeds of about 35kph.

hope this all helps ya mate.

Cheers, Tony.

i am 80kgs and my sons quad pulls me around. If it is the rear suspension type
the chain tension will increase as you put weight on bike and therefore will be
applying too much force on the front sprocket.back of tension.sit on bike.
flex chain by hand and check for approx 10mm slack.

am i too big for 50cc quad

my sons quad pulls me ok and i'm 80kgs.
check chain tension does't increase too much with the added weight.
back off tension and look for approx 10mm slack, otherwise you will be applying
too much force on the front drive shaft and bearings.

they ain't very stable those quads but they are a bit of fun for less dolalrs, just beware you need this site www.ozminimoto.com.au go to cag parts because you will need a new clutch and a few things in weeks to come, hav fun and get some pics

PS there is them singally you don't need to buy 4..

just letin ya know incase u didn't haha

Thanks for the replies.

mad man: lol, yeh i realise I didni't have to buy that many, just thought it would be fun to ride with others :). I ended up buying 2 of a different sort though (very similar to them however). I should be receiving them this week so I will post some pics! Thanks for the link to, i will check it out.

cheers

p.s. I saw pics of some adults riding similar quads and they looked freaken hilarious!!

Ok I ended up buying 2 of these http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=140071632635&rd=1&rd=1.

We've put them together, got the engines running fine but the problem is, as soon as you put any weight on it, the bike wont go anywhere. The engine doesn't rev too hard but doesn't really sound like its straining either. Any idea's whats going on? Is it just that im too heavy? They are meant to be able to carry 95kg's but maybe thats just crap?

One of them was assembled with the axle on the wrong way (by the seller) lol. My little brother put the wheels on and obviously didn't realise it what would happen. When we went to ride it, it sat there then the freaken wheels flew off!!! Bloody funny but I guess it could have been a potentially dangerous situation. But anyway if anyone can offer any advice it would be muchly appreciated.

cheers!

sorry, I just realised that my problem is probably due to what DVT has already explained might happen. Is this right, theres probably too much tension? I might try loosen it tomorrow (not sure the neighbours would appreciate me revving the guts out right now hehe)
