my bike backfires like crazy when it gets hot so i presume this is because of my valve clearance. just wanted to know if anyone can give me a good rundown on how to adjust the valve clearance properly on a pushrod engine.
dont want to go and try it without knowing exactly how to do it.

Probably the easiest engine to work on. Take the rocker cover off, may just be covers on the rocker cover... Turn the engine anticlockwise via the crank with a socket through the cover on the right crankcase. Watch for tdc via the plastic plug above the flywheel. Tdc after the inlet valve has opened. Then set the valves, probably 0.08in 0.1ex (mm). Probably a simple screw adjuster. Loosen the locknut, close the square headed screw onto the feeler gauge and lock it tight. Re check clearance and repeat etc.
