Racing CDI...Is it worth it ???

hey guys im a newbie and just bought a POS 110CC gio for 20$ go it running and all and now starting to mod it a bit, i was reading into racing cdi saying that it gains 5-10mph more ? is it true, can it hurt my engine since the rev limiter is taken off ??

I got that exact same unit. It did change the advance curve, it went to full advance all the time with no curve. Not good for starting. I could have got a bad one. If you do buy it make sure you check it with an automotive timing light to see if it advances at higher RPM's. The stock box that came with the engine does advance properly.

Yes, remove the timing cover, I used an external 12v battery to power the light, put the clamp on the plug wire and run it. As you run the motor you will (or should) see the static timing marks aligned at idle and advance as the RPM's go higher. Mine is a Lifan 140 with the stock inner rotor, yours might be different.
