intoduce yourself on there and you should be able to find out all you want

ive got a rc rock crawler, goes hard!

the servos went on the front, and replaced them with some good quality servos, plus added back end servos and now both the front and back angles work when steering, there real good fun put a lil time into them and up grade up and your off. bought mine new, plus the up grades and a few hrs work and hasnt costed me anywhere near $450, if ur prepaired to put sum time into it u can make them stand out and have some great fun with them, i reommend them!

i dont mind a bit of the old crawlin, i bought a AXIAL AX-10 RTR about a year ago i think i paid around $350 delivered from the US, pretty solid platform to start with and plenty option's for when ya wanna upgrade. i just bought a scale chassis for mine gonna turn it in to a MAN 4X4 truck

ohk so driftin sounds cheaper and i know its funner use to do it with a cheap old rc subaru...wat could i get for that price range of $450 and has anyone heard of a d-box and r they any good

when i was looking at rc drifting a little while back you couldnt go past a tamiya tt01 or tt01d, they were suppossed to be the best bang for buck.

hey mate,
what sort of area do you live in?
if you have a drifting club near you then i recommend drifting, but if not then i would recommend a monster truck or truggy of some sort.

i have an e revo brushless, a savage x ss, hpi E10 and i recently sold my revo 3.3 and HPI rs4.
i recommend a revo platform or some other truggy because there is nothing that can stop them. i can do over 100km/h with my brushless e revo on road, plus i can jump it and do anything with it.

i never used any of my road cars once i got an offroad car, because the offroad cars are 10 times funner, unless you have a nearby on road race club.

you could save up and get a Traxxas Summit, its like a monster truck/rock crawler and i hear they are heaps of fun. or get a Traxxas rustler or something. the rustler is pretty cheap and very very fast.

do your research and find out what sort of car you want first, then start doing more research into what the best cars are.

and remember, that you get what you paid for, so if you can, save up more money, because $450 wont get you something good.

i have been into RC for years so post here when you know what your looking for.
cheers

you do know we have an RC thread dont ya....

I had a Mini cooper(tamiya mo3 fwiw) with an 11t motor, fully hopped up, was awesome fun :D
currently got 2 savages, a brushless mini t(mamba 9600kv) GPV-1 motorbike(which will get the brushless mamba shortly, and a Vintage Tamiya Sand Scorcher :)

if you decide to go crawling go the ax10. or the CR01..
If going drift, look at the tamiya RTR series. tires can be puchased seperatly so you can both drift and race.. (PVC pipe works well on an old set of rims n rubber ;) )
Nitro's dont crawl!!
Electrics ARE submergable ;)
its NOT a cheap hobby!! be VERY prepared to have to spend $.. you 450 will get you a BASIC package.. you will still need spare batterys, better charger, spare parts(a arms, cv's, pinions, spurs, screws, brushes..

i HIGHLY suggest joining a couple of the forums I listed above and RESEARCHING BEFORE you purchase..

yeah ausrc is a great forum.
as foolsp33d said, it is an expensive hobby and you get what you pay for. if you are getting into the hobby, then you want your first experience to be a good one, so i recommend saving up more or selling a few things to buy a better car, it will help you in the long run

soo lets say im gunna go with a tamiya tt-01,what are they worth as a package coz i seen 1 at greensborough toykingdom before they had a full kit for like 350$ i think if so wat other mods could i do with the left over money??

i was gonna get a HPI BAJA SS.

I reken they are the ultimate....but also comes with a rather larger price tag..

i have fallen inlove with my traxxas brushless e revo, it can do over 100km/h and the suspension can be tuned so easily so that it can be used for any type of driving, plus the parts support is phenominal

RC is a very very expensive hobby.. I found pocket bikes to be cheaper!

I have a 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 1/10 Electric Buggy, 1/10 Nitro On Road and a 1/10 Electric Drifter...

I have the most fun with my Nitro buggy! you can pick up them for 450 brand new!!

Thats all i paid for mine.. and mine hammers! It beats my mates nitro buggy and they have paid 800 and stuff..

I got a Thunder Tiger EB4 S2.. good fun..

the drifters are good too but you will get sick of charging a battery for 3-4 hrs for a 15min drive! unless you go for a lipo battery and a dear charger.. which get into there hundreds..

you REALLY need to research into this more mate.. sounds like your diving in without checking the water depth.. ie;going to pay the ultimate price..

go for a hobby shop rather than a toy shop.. when (and it will) something goes wrong, you are bound to get better service from a LHS than a 'toy shop'... try asking about their spare parts.. if they dont have any on the shelf.. walk out..

Go for something well known.. alot (99%) of the fleebay ones are BASED on a name brand, but will have small differneces making part interchangability a PITA. Genuine or nothing.. seriously..
HPI, Tamiya, Traxxas, Losi, Thunder Tiger etc are all pretty good..

If you go Electric, get a decent charger.. these 15min quick chaergers are CRAP, so get something good, if its got li-po capability, expect to pay 200+ for the charger, decent batteries are about $50, then change the tamiya plugs to deans(better current flow-less problems) A higher turn motor will be slower but have more torque while a smaller turn will be faster but may need rebuilding more..

Nitro wise steer clear of small blocks.. (upto .18)-I think this is all traxxas use..
go for .25 or bigger.. MOST will come with a .28 nowdays and that will be plentyful :)
Nitro IS expensive.. about $25 for 4 litres.. then there is tuning, running in, cleaning, glow plugs, ignitors, rotorstarts/pull starts, spurs, pinions yada yada yada...

I dont think you have done ANY research, except walking into scumborough shops and looking.. thats not research lol.. Talk to people, go to a track and see what different veichles can do.. Im pretty sure Templestowe onroad have a race each sunday(its just near the apple peel round-about on fitzsimons lane) Knox BMX track is a good spot or the nitro's, as is Park Orchards.. but like I said.. Get onto Ausrc or Madhouse and talk to the boys.. they will tell you what iv told you.. research it..

If you do decide to go the right route and purchase from a LHS, go RC garage in Bayswater, tell nick Beef sent ya.. They are/were doing reno's to the store.. will be kickin arse when its finished... :D

yeh iv got another adiction.. RC. lol..

did you find the other RC thread!???

yess thans fools,,yes i have been doin research for the last week and alot of time pryer to that i though i would just see your oppinion and every1 on driftcity has sed to get a tt-01

ohh.. that was you on there. i was going to see but i didnt want to sound like a dick.. lol.

Yeah tt01d is the best probally you can pay the 350 and the rest of your 100 you want to spend you can spend on some batteries or a decent motor.. the one thats in the car at the start is a good motor to start with.. i have been drifting for nearly 2 years off and on and i still use a 27t motor, but saying that i had used 18t and small turn motors i just find the 27t has enough to get you drifting but not too much to spin easily.. you can go brushless but then it will cost you more... but you will get a faster motor and not have to do much maintenance.. but if its just for fun get a buggy!!! or a monster truck! you will be able to drive in anywhere... You will be able to chuck it in the back of the car when you are going riding and have fun while the bikes having a rest..

i bought my e revo for $1150, then my charger (swallow EQ) was $160, then i got 2x3s lipo batteries for $90, then you need to account for spares and other bits and pieces.

my revo 3.3 had a small block engine, but it still kicked the ass of my savage that was running a k4.6

if you can save up a bit more money and you want a nitro monster truck, i have a well modded savage x ss with an axial .32 engine that hasnt been broken in yet with a jammin jp-3 pipe, nylon big bore shocks in rear and an ACE steering servo, just requires Tx and Rx

its a tamiya tto1d drift spec nissan silva every thing is still stock i think i payed 390 with lights
