Rec Reg ?

Found myself an atomik 125cc pro-x. With heavy duty chain, uni filter, headlight. Now want to get her ready for rec reg. Need a mirror on the RH hanger, a chain guard, and a stop/tail light. Can I buy these ready to bolt on, or do I have to mod them from other bikes? Any ideas?

this is a good question. Has anyone successfully passed a rec rego for any chinese bike, what did you require etc.

well after a bit of mucking around with both vicroads and consumer affairs i learnt you can rec reg SOME bikes. If you have a VIN then you are most likely okay, and you can ring vicroads and check your vin number. you will need front and rear brakes and brake light at rear, tail light, headlight, and chain guard. plus a light for the number plate. and almost forgot, a mirror on your right hanger.

now i need to source a brake/tail light, number plate light, and a mirror. I think my chain guard might be okay after all, as the rules i have printed from vicroads state it must cover the front sprocket, but makes no mention of covering the rear, like as is on a roadbike.

To get a compliance plate be prepared to hand over thousands and thousands thats if they will even compliance it which i highly doubt.

mjc85, no compliance plate needed for recreational rego in Vic.

andy's right, no compliance req'd for these. just a vin number. but when youi talk to vicroads to check your vin number be prepared for a lost of piss-farting around. they think you are talking about the pocket bikes, like the 2 foot tall mini r1/gsxr/cbr sort of thing.

www.ballards.cc will have the brake/tail/numberplate light all in 1 unit , they have fold down mirrors as well
