G'day all. Planning on putting some new oil and gas in my fast ace rear shock. Does know the correct procedure for these gas shocks. What is the best weight oil to use for rebuild. Thanks for any help.

they take 50-150psi of air,

you can use air or nitrogen, whichever doesn't matter,
nitrogen will be firmer and won't change so much under hard use (heat)

the oil weight your going to have to play with though, trial and error sadly.

Hey juls,
Do you know how much pressure i can pump into a set of fastace as-03 front forks? And will this make them any stiffer/ less bottoming out?

Some one must have done one.

Somebody must have done a fastace oil change. Just want to know anyone has wise words of experience with Oil weights. etc Has anybody seen a internal daigram of fast ace gas shock.

Rebound is no longer working.

I guess I will have to give it a go myself as my rebound adjuster is no longer working and the shock action is like a pogo stick. So i shall let the pressure out and try to change the oil in it. Gona put 20weight in and see what happans. Would olike to know the correct procedure if any body has done this to the latest fast ace 280mm rear shocks with compression and rebound adjustment.

...you will need SHOCKoil...forkoil won't do the trick because its foaming quickly!!! I guess 5-10 W will be enogh for your shock...what model do you have ???...is there an reservoir??

Shock oil

Thanks I thought fork oil was the same. I have never noticed shock oil on the shelves at the bike shop. My shock is a BS66 RC 280mm with external reservior.
Have you rebuilt one of these yourself.

Well is kind of hard to get ...öhlins and Motorrex got it.....I got today a fastace BS 35 rebuild....first let out all the air....second get the spring out..third open the shock..carefully there is still some pressure on it ...take the piston out, let the oil run out(mesure the amount of oil!!!), take with some airpresure the floating piston out.....clean everything carefully...insert the Floating piston carefully until his seat, drop new oil in ( I took 20w Motorrex Fork oil , because i didn´t had any other:eek: )insert the piston , tighten up everything snug...take the shock upright and put some air inside (about 4PSI)and thats it:D

Thanks man

Cheers brother I did the same thing to my shock today. I also used 20weight motul fork oil. My dampaning is fixied again but I think even heavier oil would be needed for slower rebound which would be good on smother tracks with fast corners. A local mechanic said he could order me shock oil by the litre once I new exactly what weight I was after. Trying to find out what to use in my RM250 shock that is due for an oil change. Thanks for your help.

Can you buy fast ace seals

Forgot to mention rubber band that goes around the sliding piston was broken on my shock. Does this affect rebound dampning also. Can I buy this seal anywhere you know of. Cheers.

Hey Dude mine did this the other day and all that was wrong was the lower i mount had come unscrewed nearly off from the shaft. tightened it up and locked the grub screw up tight and now its all good again. :)

with my shocky bracket should the washer with the bolt should they go between the shock and the bracket or just on the outside of the bracket

I am having the same problem dude and i found a seals kit from elstars try them cost about $37.
