hi there guys..

my mates 110cc pitty had an issue on saturday and we cannot figure what has happened to it.. his gear shifter has locked in 2nd and we cannot select any other gear like it is jammed in there.. his gear box set up is all down, all up. Any ideas at all ?

Well first of all you don't mean all down, all up.

Secondly possibly give it a good kick, I've heard of it working before. Don't break it though, and if that doesn't work, try taking it apart. See if all that should be connected etc. is there.

Good luck.

kezza.. i did say all down, all up.. and thanks guys i will let him know just to kick the gears a little harder and see if that works.. and tell him to check the oil out..

anything else

Yeah... I tried that boys and she's still stuck in second.... I'll try pulling her apart.... But it looks like its time for a new motor

nah my mate had the same problem it was only a minor problem, ill get him to post here and tell you how to do it.

ok.....we took the motor out of the bike because its easier to work on it that way...take the side cover on the clutch side off...remove the clutch assembly & main drive gear....(note were all the parts go back in becuase they are quite fidly) This will give u acces to the actual gear selector...when we pulled my bike apart the bolt on the end of the selector drum had come lose letting the slelector spin freely on the shaft. all we did to fix the problem was line up the drive lugs and refitted the bolt with a small amount of loctite and tightened. Hope this will help u out.

Looks like you need a special tool/key to remove that housing. Contact Maylands and see if he has such a thing.

:D

I would probably suggest you just go for a 125cc motor, now that its developed gearbox problems anyway.

ok..ive jus realised...all u need 2 do is....see in the middle there is slitz in the side of tha nut...pyut a screwdriver in there put a rag over the end of the screw driver and then hit with a hammer.....it will lossen.....but be careful because there is a spring inside it....its a s imple problem with a easy fix!....dnt go n buy a new motor!!

ok then thanks meady... we will look into it probly tonight... i think he wants to upgrade to a 125 anyways... but if we can get this motor going that will be a good spare still

Ask maylands about the special tool. The other day when I was in there a side cover was off and you could see the gears it was cool.
