i am looking to get a new phone to replace my old Samsung Galaxy S2

does anyone here have the new Nokia Lumia 1020 ?
http://www.nokia.com/global/products/phone/lumia1020/

i saw it yesterday at the Telstra shop, for roughly the same cost as the Galaxy S4
the Nokia has a 41mp Camera, and the screens' resolution is so much better than my old phone
the only thing i don't like about the Nokia is it runs on Windows, not Android.
and no i don't like the I Phones at all.

so basically now i don't know which one to get, Galaxy S4 is on an 18month plan, Nokia is 24months

anyone with Smartphone experiance ?

cheers, craig

the nokia looks alright, they have always been great phones. 6110 navigator is the best phone ive had. everyone i know has had issues with their samsungs, cant remember if they were 4's or not tho
my dads been doing abit of research as he wants to change plans as optus is usless where i live and he reckons the iphone is the better option. but im not really an apple fan but my iphone 4 is ok
he said most of the samsungs his seen have failed pretty quickly aswell
have you looked at HTC? they seem ok too

yeah, the apps thing is the only thing holding me back atm.
i noticed i cant get Torque Pro for for my bluetooth OBD2 reader, for the Nokia 1020.
but i will keep my old Galaxy S2 for that one

my Samsung S2 has copped a fair hiding over the last 18months,
i have accidently dropped it, and put my foot out to stop it hitting the ground, but ended up kicking it across the cement with my steel caps quite a few times now.
i have hit it with a 1mm thick cutting disc in my 5" angle grinder a few times, when i slipped and it hit my pocket.

i have had Samsungs for the last 8 years, after switching from Nokia's
i went away to UK for a month's holiday, and took my 2 month old Nokia with me as my camera.
i dropped my Nokia getting out the car on the first day, and it wouldn't work properly after that, just got the loading/start screen.
Nokia UK tried reflashing? it but couldn't get it working again
got back home and Nokia Adelaide had a go but couldn't fix it either.

i am always hearing about friends dropping their i phones and cracking screens etc

i have seen a heap of awesome pitures that have been taken with the Nokia 1020

You can't go wrong with a S4 or a HTC one, i would recommend staying away from the windows phone even tho the hardware seems good. Android has a much better app store and is fairly easy to customize.

If you can deal with the size a few of my mates have the Note 3 and love them ;)

haha those things come with there own post codes. Way too bloody big.

Be better off holding a tablet to your head. lol

try and stay away from "heiway" or watever there called. my ,mates have them and they constantly need fixing/repairing. they are pretty cheap thoguh.

there are some nice aluminium framed covers with gorilla glass for about $15

think i spoke too soon !!!

i noticed some dirt/grit already between the Otterbox screen and the phone screen.
so took the cover off, as i unclipped the case off the phone, it slipped out my hand and dropped........ instant cracked screen 4 days old.
my old Galaxy S2 was never in a case and was dropped plenty, no problems

that really sucks mate, its happened to me before, just with a new laptop i saved for ages for. got it home, took it outta the box and she slipped out of the little plastic bag and fell onto my floor....cracked screen :(
Warranty didnt cover it, because it was seen as my fault....You suck officeworks!!!

I had a windows 7 phone HTC hd7 but everything had to go through zune I hated it now got HTC one sv and when I plug it into the lap top its just like a usb stick plus windows apps don't have torrent downloader on the htc running android 4.1 jellybean I download heaps of hd movies and heaps of music
