strange clutch system

My grandson has a TDR PRO by someone, maybe Marsazo or Wyayax. The clutch is not working properly. I attempted to remove it to check the plates but cannot work out the throw out mechanism.
It has a small hollow pin which is activated by the throwout lever but doesnt do anything itself.Before I go any further, can anyone advise me how it works?:crucified::crucified:

Auto or manual, crank mount or on the mainshaft? Paper or plastic? Beer or wine?

The clutch also felt heavier on operation. The clutch itself performed normally, so I don't think it to be worn yet - it certainly wasn't slipping.
