Hey,

I'm having trouble with my TDR 150cc

-Problem

1D3U

1st gear is fine, as soon as I jump into 2nd gear and get to a certain amount of revs it will slip into neutral.
This also happens in 3rd and 4th...

-What I've changed

I have adjusted the clutch and taken it for a test ride, no change

I have tightened the chain, the bike seems to only to drop into neutral in 2nd gear now, I will take for another test ride tomorrow and confirm that.

I am ensuring that I am getting it into gear, I have adjusted the position of the gear selector also.

------

I'm being lead to believe it could be the gear selector being bent?
I have tried to take the right hand side cover off but its getting stuck on the foot peg bar..

---

Also, could someone confirm whether the TDR's have an oil filter? If so, whereabouts is it located?

Cheers in advance guys, im not the most tech savvy guy out there

Some batches of the lifan 150s have been notorious for having shift drum issues causing the shift drum forks to wear on the gears which then causes the gears to not fully engage. Maybe it was us that got a really bad batch as 90% where replaced under warranty, we will never stock the lifan 150 due to this one bitten twice shy phobia, we now stock the yx(klx style) motors in the larger bore examples. Everything I could recommend you have tried, but in saying that there is a little arm and a roller that is sprung and puts pressure on the shift barrel from the clutch side and is what help keep it in the selected gear, I have seen these jump off there situated position at times which causes the selected gear to not fully engage and once the vibration becomes to much the shift drum kinda falls back out of that gear in between the two gears giving a false neutral.

You can remove the clutch case only and remove the clutch and inspect the gear selector mechanism and sprung arm that operate the shift drum on the clutch side.

And the best response and answer of the year goes to rotn50

Thanks for your reply, now is this on the left hand side? I remove the magneto and its sitting in behind it? Wouldn't happen to be a tutorial floating about would there? haha

Also, do they have oil filters? If so, whereabouts?

Easy way to find the clutch is to follow the clutch cable to the engine, so you will find it on the right side of the engine, also on the right side of the engine is a small round cover with two bolts holding it on, thats your oil filter behind there.

on the right side, undo the side cover then undo the 4 bolts holding the springs on slowly and evenly and then pull the clutch plates out and undo the strange looking nut with a screwdriver (blunt one preferably) and a hammer or go and buy a clutch nut tool and then you will be looking at a sight similar to in the video (i know its a different motor but there pretty similar inside) i can take a photo of the inside of a lifan 150 with the clutch out on Wednesday if you like

Yup, found out first hand on the weekend the Lifan 150's are pox, I have a brand new one, not even run in yet and it's hitting neutral between every gear, power wise they are ok with the right running gear and mods but the neutral problem just ruins it,
