TDR / TMX PRO 150cc (upgrades)

I have bought a Tdr pro 150cc (140cc engine)

I have heard a lot of bad things about there frames breaking and stuff,

I wan't to take out all the part's that are no good and are just waiting to break, and replace them with good parts or performance parts, I do not know a lot about dirt bikes and im just learning I am willing to spend the money,
I wont be jumping this bike so don't complain about the frame and that nonsense I ride trails only.

and don't be that guy that says (Replace the parts when they break oohoo)

i want this bike to go faster and last long as possible, i am not going to sell it as it is good for people to learn on, and family can ride it when i no longer am.

Please suggest on the best things to get on this bike

I don't know too much about the bike's engines and stuff but i know how to ride it, thanks

I just saw your post in the chat box and replied, but your bike is chinese so i have moved your thread here.

Is your TDR brand new ?
If so you would want to replace the spark plug with a decent one, NGK C7HSA
Oil the air filter with filter oil to stop dust getting through it and into the carby.
Change the engine oil, the cooking oil that come's with it isn't too good.
Adjust your valve clearance's, they are normally set pretty tight and can cause the bike to be hard to start.
And can also damage the valve's/valve seat's if left tight

A lot of the bolt's nut's can rattle loose, so undoing them and putting some loctite on can help them stay on your bike.
Some decent brand handlebar's are a good upgrade, some of the cheap one's can bend and or snap if you fall off.

I went riding on this bike last week, had to tighten the bar's when i got there noticed where i got them from didn't tighten them, i took my air filter off and put a new one on, i didn't oil it at all -.- I havn't ridden it with the new air filter, i drained my oil before the ride filled with some good oil, i crashed once and bent my bars, i bent them back with muscles tho,

what oil do i use to oil the air filter,

I'm pretty sure my valves are fine my bike starts first kick,

and i am a noob tell me where to get Loctite from :3 (edit) Nvm i forgot i have nail polish. used that on my petrol air breather thing.

I have tightened the bolts and everything on the bike.

Do you have a suggestion on which pro taper bars i should get

Your valve clearance's will be too tight.

Nail polish ?

Bolt's need Loctite on the thread's to strop them undoing when out riding
Loctite at Supercheap Auto


Take your pick of handlebar's, there are so many different one's, eg different rise, bend, length etc
You need to feel how they are, go into a bike shop and have a feel to see what suit's you

The spark plug's you can get at Repco, supercheap etc cheaper than that.
Castrol filter oil- Castrol Foam Air Filter Oil - 300g - Supercheap Auto Australia
You can use the K& N stuff or whatever brand you want

What carby is on it now ?
Any pic's of the bike, and how much was it new ?

You have bought the wrong bike if you want to go and start changing everything.

Those link's for the carb, it's not a racing carby, just a general use China copy of a Mikuni 22mm carby.

How can I have bought the wrong bike, what it has a bad frame so now it's terrible. beats a ssr, lol.

If you want to spend money on it to upgrade it you could have just bought a much better bike for less.
They have better frame's, seat's, handlebar's, fork's, shock's, wheels, brake's, engine's ect

Hey mate I just brought the very same bike TDR TMX 150cc last week and after going over every nut and bolt with Loctite, Oiling the Air filter (K&N brand seems to work okay), Running it on 15w/50 Castrol Activ 4T.. Oh BTW the factory engine oil level is way to low you will need around 900ml if running an oil cooler, Yes definitely check your valve clearances anyway as good practice, and be prepared to play around with the carby a little depending on your climate.. I live in Newcastle Australia and it's summer atm and my bike cracks along extremely well considering I have yet to touch the carby and valve clearances and Chain and Sprockets as the factory ones are dubious at best.. I went for the run in ride and had to adjust it afterwards.
My next mods will be NGK spark plug, Racing CDI, new chains and sprockets for now.

In conclusion... So Far So Good
