Hi everyone.
About three weeks ago, the bike started fine and ran fine. I purchased a new 12v battery for the bike and fitted it. When i was fitting it, i noticed a few sparks, but thats it. Then after i fitted it, i tried starting it. Nothing, All that was heard was the starter motor. I tried kickstarting it for agis, nothing.

I took the sparkplug off and checked for a spark. No spark. I purchasde a new spark plug, still no spark. I then bought a new Coil, HT leed, HT cap and still no spark.

Its so weird. It was working fine up until i fitted a new battery. Now i can't get a spark.

Any sugestions? I was wondering if i blew a fuse, but i don't think Thumpstars have fuses.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

how could the magneto brake from the new battery? look for any fuses! im sure electric starts have fuses.... if not, u may have damaged the coil or as mentioned the magneto (unlikely) the first thing to go is usually a fuse

edit: just had a quick look at my quad! there is a small fuse closed to the battery... and has a spare fuse in the little plastic case it is in (to stop it from getting wet)

Im trying to find the fuse but i still cannot find one. Theres only two wires going from the battery and those go to the ignition.

If there is a fuse, im pretty sure its that. I just need to find it.
Can anyone with a 110 or 120 mini dirtbike with electric start confirm there bike has a fuse.

i have a 125 thumpstar and yes there is a fuse in a white cilindar case. this happened to me but i could still kick it over. when i tried to electric start mine though, i couldnt even hear the start motor. i changed the fuse and it was fine.

If you could take a picture of where the fuse is, i would appreciate it alot.
Im getting so fed up that i might just stick it on ebay and buy a Yamaha Blaster quad. hmmmm.

hello,
it sounds like a fuse , as when you where installing the battery sparks went indicating a short circut. but as you have said no spark , then getting new coil and cdi , realy sounds like the magneto / stator have karked it.

My fuse sits right infront of my battery, its in a small semi-clear plastic case thats about an inch long. My elec start doesnt work ( no noise what so ever!) but i can kick the bike over fine (one kick) and ive had a look at the fuse and it looks fine..should i just get a new fuse just to be sure???

ps. if ya cant find it just take all the plastics off and the tank and then you can get right in and have a good look!

my frien had this problem with his bike, we tried every thing and then put my cdi unit it and it started!!

Lol, If you blow the fuse it will just mean no electric start, If you cant kick it over and you have tried
new coil
new c.d.i
new spark plug

then your stuffed its the magneto.. but then least you can buy a innor rottor kit lol

its pretty simple as long as you know where the original one is. jjust unclip the old on off and the new one should just clip straight into the connector.
