Hey,, i was woundering if transmission oil would work as fork oil ,,,,as ive read on some other forums on tha net ....im currently riding an Yamaha DT175 "1977" ...prity old ..but goes nutz ..just had the top end rebuilt 8 mnths ago

the forks are soft as s**t ....
so can someone plz tell me how to stiffen em up a little:D

you could buy harder/stiffer springs...

i got told if ya put a bit more oil in ...they hold up betta ova jumps
..ill give it a go tmorro if it aint work ill go in n get new springs

yer the oil works too.. theres different weight oils... the thicker/ more dense or higher the weight of the oil... the harder your forks will become

Hey yer...this morning i changed my forks oil and replaced it with some of dads auto transmission oil that was laying around the shed .......And IT WORKS:D
there stiff as sh*t i think i threw in a bit too much ....but it works for me

You wanna be careful that you don't over fill them because you may blow the seals with increased pressure.

yer...i took abit of juice out ov em ...and they are heaps good now
-Not too soft nor too stiff...just right....

ill be headin out to me mates track so ill see if they anygood

mine are really soft aswell but i dont want to take the oil out and stuff but it costs heaps to go to moto shops to get them done so im just gunna leave them as they are

sheep ...try puttin oil in them ...its easy as piss ...all u have to do is open the bolts on top of the each fork and pour about 10ml in each shock then close it up again ..then see how they feel. if they are still soft add anouther 10ml.it they too hard take a bit of the oil ..untill it feels right
like what i did to me dt's forks

EZY Job...i hardly kno Shi* about bikes ...but im learning
--make sure ur bike is on a stand

oh..what year is ur dt

:and about me dt ...its old but it a bike that love's to pop up on one wheel
