Hi everyone just thought i would post up pics of the new race bike that i have just built up for my stepson Tristan. I only just finished this bike it was built for the Braaap Series which starts this saturday here in Tassie. It's a 2010 Braaap Maestro when i brought this bike it had a lifan 140 it lasted 1 day before i snapped the crank in it :lol_hitting:. I was planning to put the engine out of my Ciniworx in it [which is in FOTM] so it was no great drama. I had to replace the head on this engine and Mick [Rotn50] helped find a 155z head with very low hours on it Thanks Mate. This engine pulls hard straight through to the rev-limiter. Tristan and i are very keen for this series to start as the first round is a grasstrack. Ok thats enough of me talking so heres the pics. Also i would like to thank Mick again for his help getting the parts for this engine and for the great advise with the many phone calls from me :five:

Love the look of those frames, nice work mate. (and yes im gonna be the first to bite) WTF is with the nitrous bottle?

great looking bike mate, and is that a did nz3 chain i see there ;)
and btw, even if the nos doesnt work, the fact that it LOOKS like you have nos is good for another 3.5 HP , LOL
should win a few races with that weapon :)

Love the nos bottle haha
Bike is awesome Rodney, good luck to you and Tristan this weekend
The bottle looks good doesnt it Harry haha. Yes im pretty happy the way it looks and for a 170cc it's more than enough power for Tristan in the junior class without the bottle.

nice looking bike bud, looks very high in the back. is that just the way they are?

thats a nice lookin bike....please answer us all wats with the nos???????
Thanks mate. The nos bottle is off my mini chopper its not hooked up i put it on for a laugh. Tristan wants to leave it on he loves it. I might leave it on until the bike gets scrutineered for a laugh and see the reactions i get :LolLolLolLol:

Yes it is a DID NZ3 chain you see there lol. I hope Tristan runs well it has more then enough power with the 170cc motor and he is only around 60kgs so the power to weight is pretty good.

Looks awesome Rodney, you could run the bottle to be a tappet or oil cap breather tank so it kinda half serves a purpose haha.
If you tap into the inlet valve cover and hook it up you could pass it of as direct injected lol.

hell yeah, i've ordered mine, so time will tell as to how it goes!
and yeah that bike should pull him around just fine!!! ;)

Thanks Brendo i was thinking about hooking the hose up to the 360 degree inlet adaptor. But i think i will take it off after scrutineering.

Just thought i would say how things went last saturday at the first round of the braaap state series. Tristan went well 4th overall for the day in the juniors this was the first time he had ridden this bike on a track. He had 2 offs the last one was a big hi-side gassed it up and over the bars he went on the pit corner. He was ok pretty crabby with himself got a few bruises on his leg and the exhaust burnt his leg when the bike landed on top of him. If he didnt have these offs he would of got 3rd overall for the day. But Sharon and i are very proud of how he went for the first time out on this bike. I have a few pics now for you guys to look at.

Tristan with current junior state champ next to him.

good stuff dude! 4th overall, thats not bad! better than 2nd overall cos then your the first loser! Top stuff rodney :)

very nice !
i see the performance coil lead is still on the bike,
have you had a chance to do a comparison run with a stock lead ?

giving it a run with the gas would be good too, although i'm not sure Nos make a 9hp N20 jet
and even then you'd have to add the same amount of petrol so it doesn't run lean
could possibly make a Mikuni Power jet kit work on it ?
but it would need some electronics too, a solenoid or something to turn the gas on only at WOT.
keep up the good work

plus reps !

Yes i have compared it to the stock NGK lead that came with the NGK Race Coil. The adaptor and Spitfire lead make a big differance. With the plug out resting against the head with the lead on it i just push down on the kicker and its amazing the crack you here from the plug when it fires. Also after i fitted this Spitfire Lead setup i had to go up to a 25 pilot jet from 22.5 to get it perform as it made it run lean a little. Also had to go up to 102.5 on the main jet from 100 also for the same reason. This is on a Mikuni Vm24. On a stock coil there was a little differance in the spark but not as much as the NGK Race Coil. I dont think i will go with the Nos on Tristan's bike but i had a few lookers when i arrived at the track with the Nos bottle on his bike. They was checking it out before i had even took the bike off the back of the ute :LolLolLolLol:

oh yeah, how do you break a 140 crank ???

I was riding the bike the day after i brought it i had just finished tuning the carb as i wasn't completing happy with how it was performing. I done a few hard runs down the gravel road at home from standing start on the last one when i backed it off it snapped. I pulled the clutch cover off and it had snapped the crank where the oil slinger goes onto :LolLolLolLol:. I wasnt to worried as i wasnt going to use this engine in the build but would of been ok to have a spare running engine for maybe a future build up.
