sorry you have probabaly toutched on this topic before but i just picked myself up a 250 pitty it has usd adjustable forks that are way to soft i have stiffened the rear but the front are bottoming out. how do i stiffen them? any help would be appreciated. thanks
 
There are a few hing you can do, but the only real fix is stiffer springs
But try this away, heavier fork oil, you probably have cheap and nasty less than 5 weight oil now, go up to 15w oil and its 200ml per spring, an extra 10-15mls wouldnt hurt, you can also put wahsers/spacers under the caps of the forks to compress the springs, you might also have air fittings on the bottom of the forks under the rubber caps, if so put about 25-30psi of air, i have done all this and i am still not happy, they are better than they were
 
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha .........

Mack has talked about the air valves doing nothing for the compression springs in AS-02 forks and said it only assists the full extension buffering springs ......

With normal forks you can fit air valves into the top caps and add air pressure to assist the main springs ....... you can even totally remove the stock springs and run them on pure air pressure if your seals are good ..... but it's best to leave the springs in and only use added air pressure as a booster to adjust the stiffness to suit your weight or the track ......

They used to do the air cap mod to XR75's .... I did it myself and ran with no springs at all ...... they just clunked a bit when the forks reached full extension and hit the stopper ring because the higher air pressure isn't limited in how far it pushes like a spring is at full extension ..... but XR's never had full extension dampers so that's the reason why they clunked .......

All you do (IF there's room) is drill a small diameter hole right thru the top cap ... then drill a counter bore just deep enough to tap a thread for an air fitting to screw into ..... then voila !!!!!! You now have AIR FORKS .......

I drilled and tapped the holes dead centre of each fork cap and ran an air valve into each fork leg but you can only do that if there's no adjustment screws or other fittings .... You could also drill small holes and use smaller air fittings then run both air lines to a single air valve so that both legs get even air assistance pressure at all times .... just like how it is with some car air shocks ...

IF they're thick enough , then there's no reason why you couldn't go in from the side of each fork tube if there's no room in the top caps ..... you'd just have to make sure you didn't drill right thru when you counter bored for the valve thread ...
 
I can't see any air fittings in the pic ...... but this is what they look like and you can get them from Elstar Products :

You can also buy them pretty cheap from places that sell air compressors and other air tools or nut and bolt joints ....... but the valves pictured above are most likely smaller ....... :)
 
No Not Them Ones On The Pic I Posted There Is The Rebound Clicker/adjuster Then Under It Is A Screw/plug You Can Undo To Let Air Out When They Have Been Worked Out Hard And Build Up Air, That Is What I Am Talking About.
