G'day people.
I would like to offer a little bit of advice to anyone looking to purchase the v2 head for their bike. I would strongly recomend getting some sort of decrompression option especially those wanting to use the s35 cam.
This is advise I wish was offered to me before I handed my money over. I know with the tb head its not much more in price to get the head with the decompression option fitted and is well worth every cent.

Great advice mate, sucks you had to learn the hard way, but +Reps for sharing it.

Might save some others making the same mistake..

The engien will be easier to start with the s35 style cam as aposed to the stock v2 cam ..

Thanks minifighter. Its a pain that I wasnt told about the decomp option before I paid up but atleast I know now and my god the v2 is good fun.Wouldnt own a bike without 1 now. Just really hard to start.

Wotgaz,I cant imagine any combination would be harder to kick over than the s35 on the v2

ill be getting a z160ho and V2 combo in the next month or so...so im one person your advice has/will help.

I have been talking to a company in the US that machines the heads and fits the decomp valve. Id say ill be sending my head there to get it done. Unless some one thats running a auto decomp cam buys it off me.

my engine was piss easy to start?

get the starter to just before TDC push down slowly till it just rocks past tdc , and i probably could of started it with my hand literally .

well I use that starting method and its not easy to push it just past tdc.On saying this Im noy saying its impossible just saying the engine wont last long been so hard to kick.

Talk to Jamie from Classichonda50's (i think) he is a member here and i remember him talking about fitting the decomp to a non decomp head?

I have spoken to him thanks mate. He has not done it as yet but has things in the making for getting this set up.

as long as you know where to machine it any machine shop with a mill can fit the tb de-comp kit so no real need to send it out of aus.

as far as i know tb dont sell the de-comp seperate. There emails are a bit hard to understand.they put me onto their machine shop that does all their work.im not sure I trust any local machine shops to do it

ive read all that about different types of decomps out there but no one has tested them to any lenght yet and no local machine shop is willing to guarantee there work with maching my head and im not about to throw a $450 head in the bin just to let some one have a try machining it.

the pitster button one will work every time you push/pull the button so unless it breaks i cant see it failing.

the cable operated ones will work every time you pull the cable so same as above...

and well the cheap china decomp cams have been known to not work every time , but the takegawa decomp cams have a good rep. (along with the adapter peice to use it with china engines ) .. and a cam cover that has enough room to fit it .. Ie: stock klx 110 cam cover..

thats the first one i mentioned , same type of thing as the TB decomp except you can pull it off and put it on any bike you want at any time as long as you got the right spark plug ( custom plug)

they are all overpriced imo.

There is plenty of options out there thats for sure and the idea of this thread was to prevent anyone else going down this road im heading down and get the v2 head with the decomp fitted and save all hassles.

Hi All Mate , why not to fix the Auto De-comp kit for V2 head .
