Don't realise how lucky you are until you notice how bad other people have it!

I hope all Miniriders members are well and safe.

Does anyone know where you can make donations to familys whom have lost? Is a Morning show or something hosting something like that?

OK. Obviously you have never seen the place before. lol. It's kinda hard to explain.

There are numerous open cuts. Not just 1. A fire can start in one, and not spread to others. Plus there are enormous water supplies there for this exact reason. Worse case if the foam don't work, then flood out sections. Although in saying that, it can make it worse and is costing millions. lol.

I just heard something even worse, apparently there is chance the 2 major fire fronts could link up if the wind stays in the same direction!! That would mean a 200km fire front!!

yeah mate i've been on site at the coal mines and i've been through the power station although along time ago

but your right i'm just stiring **** i have a feeling that they have had fires there before
but would be hectic

i was speaking to one of the guys in our morwell branch and he lives in churchill so his house still stands for now but if the wind changes and the fire comes back through there he may be in trouble

bendi fire has flared up again there's alot to burn out there

wish we had monsoonal rain very soon

All good. I would just pity the guys trying to put that one out. Worse kind of work around.

Apparently Churchill copped it pretty damn hard.

I think this will all get worse before it gets any better.............

I'm an active member of a building forum.

Heaps of people on that forum have built or are building at places such as Mernda, Doreen, South Morang, Berwick, Pakenham and numerous other new suburbs/estates on the metropolitan fringe.... Until Saturday, it never occurred to any of them that they may need a bushfire plan. Or that bushfire was something they'd ever have to consider.

I just find it unbelievable that some people are so unaware and unprepared when they are moving very close to bushland.

Update : 131 Dead and 750 homes destroyed

This is not good for vic, its hard to belive some of the things that im seein :( went to Marysville few weeks ago and now its all destroyed, I dont understand how someone can start some of these fires, it disgusts me. I heard one guy got caught whilst tryin to light one, think he connected with a couple of steel toe caps before he was handed over to the cops,

Just heard they're evacuating healsville to the oval and now theres another fire on the otherside of coldstream. Hope they catch the F###s responsible for this, Should be put on trial for murder and terrorism...

Some photos of the coldstream fire on sat night

I believe all big banks like commonwealth, anz etc are taking donations woolworths and coles to there are quiet a few places you you can go to:)

I live in craigieburn which is like 45 mins away from the fires in King Lake. There was a day where you could see and smell the smoke. Its real bad. You have to make donations to red cross. They already have enough clothes, toys etc. They are currently asking for money donations only.

Yesterday klx140kid and I went up to our land at Wallan.
I wanted him to understand what bushfire really is, beyond some footage on the news, considering where we will soon live.

I didn't want to do anything insensitive and going near towns such as Wandong as a "grief tourist" is completely inappropriate in my opinion. So we just stuck to the Hume and had a drive.

Wow... a few kms past Wallan, where the fire went through is visible. It runs along the Hume on both sides for about 15km almost to the Flowerdale/Broadford exit. We turned back there and followed the path down. This was the beginning of the Kilmore East fire that eventually formed part of the Kinglake Complex.

It literally looks like a bomb went off. I have never seen so many dead animals. A big bull roo caught my eye and I thought if the toughest and fastest of the mob couldn't outrun it, what hope did anything have? I was pretty upset. That isn't usual for me. There's horses and cattle in burnt out paddocks and god only knows how they survived.

There are a number of burnt out homes..... but **** people are tough. Really tough. One burnt out house has a tent and a caravan set up and they're simply starting again.

Another burnt out shell had a ute parked in front of it and the clean up was in full swing. These people have lost homes, but they've lost friends and family as well and they are just so brave.

I know it sounds cliched and wanky, but I felt proud that these are our people, this is our country. That people can be so resilient in the face of this is so inspiring. The bush will regenerate. The people will rebuild and return. But the people, unlike the land, have scars from which they will never fully recover. But they will move forward.

Like most people, I have certainly gained a bit of perspective about my place in the world and the insignificance of what I once considered were my problems.

Mate that doesn't sound dicky at all, im proud how much Australia is donateing, how brave those who lost every thing.

One thing I was sayin to my wife is, has anyone noticed how whenever there is any sort of tragedy overseas, the oz is one of the first to give a couple of billion dollars or so, but I havent heard of any country giving any help back to us when we need it. I know there is a financial crisis and all but you cant tell me that there arnt any wealthy people or organisations left in the entire world. I think that really sucks

time for me too rant.

after people have seen all this happening someone in adelaide is that f*****g stupid to do the same here yesterday. in belair national park an arsonist was caught lighting fires!

these people are murderers and deserve to be tied to the trees infront of the roaring bush fire for what they have done. low life scum in my mind. if i ever catch someone lighting fires i will take the laws into my own hands and hope anyone else would too. these people deserve to die.

i cannot see how any one thinks that doing that can be fun. why the f**k would you want to do that.

i feel so sorry for all the people in vic that have been effected by this tradgic disater. now we are just preparing for something like this in sa. the conditions are going to be perfect next week for a huge fire dry, hot and most probably windy.

to anyone that hasnt cleaned there property up and prepared for the worst i would do it while you still have a chance.
