anyone else having many issues with the 125cc pit bike gearboxes???

2 out of our 6 bikes now seem to have the same problem, slipping out of gear, feeling tighter not engaging correctly. Seems to be a little worse when warmed up.

Will try modifying the star shifter. Failing that is there any other mods or aftermarket gearbox parts that can resolve the issue?

thanks

both relatively new bikes, maybe 1 year old max. 1 is a ducar and one lifan. One is an atomik. Their friends bikes so don't know exactly. Don't they all have similar if not same box internals anyways?

yeah pretty much same ... if ya know what ya doin sritp em down and you'll know soon enough... sorta sounds like the shift fork maybe.... and yes you can buy gearbox bits for em but don't know where try a parts dealer

other than that a new 140 for about 300 bucks will liven em up as well

Sup skeet skeet, I rolled over the thread and saw the 2 out of 6 bikes.......and thought thats a bit too coincidental. hahaa

Hope we can get my piece of crap fixed up before this weekend!

LOL sup groundrun. gotta fix our bikes for our next bash

Thanks for the tip dreadful, will pull our bikes apart and should be able to see the damage. cheers

Hey bumholes,

We had to try to deepen the selector 'star'. This will make it harder to shift into gear, but it will stop the gearbox hitting false neatrals.
Also the internets says that the selector arm spring can become loose , especially if we have dropped the bike on the selector gear itself.

replace it with:
The spring is Honda part no. 24435-GF6-003

Its that bastard spring that holds the selector arm into the star groove. Apparently the honda ones are stiffer and keep the arm 'in' the groove more.

BUt i reckon we start with dremeling the star gear thingy.

If we chip in for the clutch gearbox nut remover it should cost us like 30 cents. each mad.
