Hi guys and girls I'm in the process of buying a 140cc was thinking about a motovert engine or lifan are these any good or is their something better out their does anyone know the power of these or other 140cc thanks. .

Depending what your budget is mate, there is quite a bit of variety of 140's and there will be many different opinions on what is better for power an reliability but I assume the one engine most people would agree on as a good quality engine would be the gpx Moro 140x, around $4-500, the Lifans are 'ok' but the have their problems, little more info of your budget, what bike you will be putting it in, what you are looking for power and quality wise etc

after owning both a yx and a lifan 140 i would go the yx any day

Hey mate looking at spending 500 and i will be putting it in my 05 motovert I want something with snaping power something that doesnt need playing with all the time..

Are the motovert 140cc a yx engine after 1 week of being ****ed around by motovert in vic trying to get new piston and rings for my 110cc 3 valve and them not returning my calls when they say they would now they say that they don't think they can get them but they will keep trying but I want to keep it all motovert but I'm worried if I buy from them and need parts later that I won't be able to get them sorry had to have a winge lol...

Pretty sure the motovert 140's are yx or zongshen 140's, the only things motovert are the clutch cover and stator cover. If motovert are giving you the run around get an engine from a reputable supplier like DHZ

gpx 125 maybe? there reliable from what i hear and cheap, you could buy the motor and a spare piston and rings and be in budget

the only thing you will need to play with is the valve clearances every now and again and some oil

Yeah I hear the race ready 125's for power are unreal with the right setup, and like zwebx said you'll be behind in budget to buy your spares if someone on it goes wrong. The 125 already comes with the decomp pistons race cam etc, so that might be your go, but if you are stuck on your 140 then yx will be the way to go.

Hey mate my zongshen 140 has been real reliable but you get used to it and even bored. if your looking at spending $500 I would have to throw it out there and say save a bit more and get yourself a z160 or you can get a yx160 from buzz bikes for $560 posted.
