Hi Guys,

First timer here looking for advice -

I was setting up my new pit bike & went to change the oil but unscrewed the gearbox sump plug by mistake, & a spring-loaded bolt has shot out (with the spring!) does anyone know what this is for & if it is needed, as I damaged the spring trying to put it back in place. Is it just a filter that I can get away without? It's a 50cc GMX Chip pit bike. I have added a photo of the parts that shot out, hopefully you know what it is!IMG_1618[1].JPG

Thanks
Gav

Don't ride it if its not in other wise you will definitely jump a cam tooth and actually smash valves.

the spring doesnt have to be perfect, as long as its there to push it up into the hole.

the tensioner itself is hydraulic, it wont release until you let the oil out (by undoing the bolt you pulled out).

but you do need the spring just to take up the slack until it builds up the oil pressure.
