Got my first mini dirt bike on friday... Anyone know from the pic what it is.
On the box it had Orion, but thats all..
Engine is Ducar 125cc

Had first ride this morning in a small confined area and was quite impressed, although in 1st gear u could almost climb a verticle wall.
Gearing is 14 front 48 rear. seeing some posts about ratios, this sounds too low gearing. got to the point where i didnt even use 1st gear as it was a waste of time, the best i could do was about 10 metres from standing start before it run out of legs.

Its a AGB27,

as for gearing, 14 / 41 will suit it so much better,

they are a terrible frame that will bend like crazy on even small jumps, that rake will just get more choppered, so watch the jumps,

hopefully you didnt pay more than $300 for it!

cheers. ill be looking to change the gearing as soon as i can as its really kinda hopeless using 1st. and yer it cost me a lil over $500 new incl freight, and it wont be seeing any major jumps over 2-3 feet high.
thx for ur input.

anything to look out for in particular with this model, being my first bike, and not knowing a great deal i have replaced most bolts on the bike + loctited them all. Any advise would be appreciated. thanks

In general they are a pretty reliable bike, just the same as any bike,

*Loctite all bolts, and keep checking them,
*Regular oil changes 10/40 oil or there abouts,
*keep tire pressures up to avoid puntures (25psi),
*Keep chain lubed after every ride,
*Put a fuel filter on the fuel line (mower shops sell good little ones)
*Clean air filter after every decent ride (get a proper foam filter, dont use the hard ones they come with)

and most of all ride that baby every day lol

If your in SA by anychance, i have a AGB27 Frame and Swingarm that you can have for spares for free, they are only going in the bin cause we are moving house soon!

im in port macquarie NSW but thx for the offer anyway. when i got the bike it had barely any oil in it, so iv drained what little there was in it and changed it before even starting the motor, I pulled off the crappy fuel filter it had and replaced it with one from repco, along with the fuel line. Lucky i got a bro that works there, get my goodies for basically cost price :p. In 3-4 short 5-10 min rides the chain has stretched heaps, gotta get myself a decent one, and when the knobbys wear, which wont be too far away going to put road tyres on. Any suggestions where to buy semi slicks for these ?

not unless you have roads that you could ride on legally, other wise id give the bike away, because it will get taken from you if you are caught!

DHZ has some slicks! 12'' front 12'' rear, looks like a good deal
NEW 12"Front/Rear MOTARD ROAD TYRE&TUBE THUMPSTAR CRF - eBay Other Makes, Bikes, Motorcycle Parts, Cars, Bikes Boats. (end time 20-Oct-07 15:51:33 AEST)

they usually sell a complete set (rim, tires, inner tubes etc etc) but they havnt go any up! they are around $150 for the set from him

cheers, thanks for that, and NO, i wont be riding on the roads :) just most of the riding i will do will be either on bitumen or smooth concrete, with the occasional ride in the dirt.

Woah, that sprocket is huge.. unless you're going to be hillclimbing maybe, change it to a smaller sprocket.

Change the frame man, you hit one jump with that thing and I can just see its going to cave in..

Hope you get it all good and running well

my plan is to use this as a learning tool, as its been well over 20 years since iv been on 2 wheels of any sort and more than likely will buy a road registered motovert early next year - didnt want to outlay a fortune if im not going to like it.. what sort of frame should i look at, coz i know sooner or later im gona want to jump this thing ? initially i was going to buy an Atomik RS.. is that a reasonable bike/frame ?

even an 29 frame (proX) would be better! wouldn't be a hard swap over, because they are basically the same bike
