Trying to remove the clutch hub nut on a Lifan 125cc, which needs a special tool.
So far found the following:
1. Motion Pro Part # 08-0015 OIL FILTER & CLUTCH HUB SPANNER
2. K&N Honda Oil Filter Spanner Socket Part # 82-0230
Problem is where to get either. Have found the Motion Pro distributor - Cassons, but they need me to get a bike shop to order it for me, THEN they will import it - god knows when.
Local motor shop have told me K&N part is discontinued.

At the moment trying to find a US supplier who will ship to OZ.

Am I missing something here? Does anyone know where in OZ to get such a tool, or is there some other way?

Hi Bof.
We have a tool supply shop here in Adelaide that sells them,You will find that most Tool supply shops around Aust. will have then or can get them in for you !,Usually about $24.00 ea

Ps you can make one by grabbing a socket and angle grinder and cutting the slots in the socket.Watch out for the fingers tho.[You cant buy them easily if you slip !!] Mail order from Uzbekastan takes a month or so to find a "Willing" Finger Donor !!!!!.......

Cheers Brian

I have recently come across this problem myself when fitting a new IRK & lightened oil slinger into my bike (& my son's bike). The part were got at a good price but then we found that we needed a flywheel puller & a clutch nut socket. The flywheel puller cost almost as much as an IRK & when tracking down the clutch nut socket, I was told they cost a fortune so the oil slingers are on hold.

Thinking of finding a China supplier of these specialty tools & importing em myself as the demand would be well worth the investment & I'd make a killing. It is a sad thing where suppliers jump on the popularity bandwagon & start stocking theses parts without thinking it all through with fitting etc

Thanks for the help to date.

Brian, I'm in rural WA - parts for a 250 tonne mining truck - no problem, on the shelf! Special tools for a what? Would appreciate contact details for that tool shop in Adelaide, resigned to the fact I will need to get one mail order. Have been told of angle grinder trick, but would prefer right tool if I can get it.

Meko, don't dispair, the dam thing retails for about $9.50 USD. I suspect you got the same treatment I did when enquiring at the local Honda dealer. Was told about $600! I think that translates to 'Bugger off, we're not interested unless you want to pay us to do the work for you'.

Some more progress to date - Parts Unlimited (US stockist of Motion Pro) have pointed me to Motor Cycle Accessories Supermarket in NSW. Waiting to see if they respond.

ive had the same trouble replacing my stator in the end i gave up and got my local moto shop to do it 50 buxs isnt to bad

Ok guys here goes !! the Tool shop here in Adelaide is Endeavour Tools
ph 83449826
[The guys running the shop are a couple of "Tools" too !!] LOL
They can order the correct socket in for you !!!
Hope this helps !

Cheers Brian

i made my own tool....but i got a quote from a motorbike mechanic in dandenong area and he said 20 bux to take the oil slinger and magneto off

pretty cheap

Further Update:

Motorcycle Accessories Supermarket got back to me saying that their supplier says part is unavailable.:(

Have ordered part from[ url=http://www.pitposse.com] in the US. Ended up costing just less than $50 AUD, 2/3 of which was postage. They sent it 4/6/07 will report on delivery and quality when I get it.

the clutch shat itself on my ST50 other night, to get the clutch nut off, i just made one out of a $4 socket from repco,

20mins with the angle grinder, and it looks like a bought one:D

had to torque the nut with 30 pound and it handled it with ease!

can u post a pic of it might have to make one at work :p

LOL I know my brother has machined (butchered) is sockets to make his own 'keys' to remove bike parts plenty of times. His even got a length of 1 inch pipe slotted to remove his own valves from the forks of his race bike.

although he's got a few scars on his hands where he has slipped LOL

Yep best fix is the modded socket. I made my set for clutch and slinger from tuff impact gun sockets. Better than bought ones. If you finish them up with a file you can make them fit with zero tolerance.
