So my postie (ct110) engine is dieing. I think it took water in the air intake, when housed outside (we live in an apartment in melbourne). The gearbox has nearly had it.

So i am going to dump a lifan engine into it.

I am pretty tempted to put in a lifan 125cc

ala : Genuine Lifan Black 125cc Engine | PitPro Dirt Bikes Australia's Largest Online Pitbike Store

but i am also considering the lifan 140cc : Genuine Lifan Big Bore 140cc Engine | PitPro Dirt Bikes Australia's Largest Online Pitbike Store

now the stock postie engine is meant to be about 7hp, and mines stuffed so is probably around 5hp.

From my understanding the 125cc should output about 10hp and the 140cc about 12hp.

Is the 140cc engine going to be a huge improvement for the considerably larger cost ?

thoughts and opinions welcome.

go the 140...

But I doubt it puts out 12hp.. Probz like 8-10...

I have one here if you are interested... Just needs the kick start fixed up.

Why the 140 over the 125?

I guess my question is, does the 140 have considerably more power than the 125?

I have only ridden the 140... And it was ok for performance.

is pit pro a good shop to deal with ?

are there any other well prices shops in melbourne?

450 is a bit much.. Try dhz, they have lifan 140's on special. CLICK HERE

A 125 should put out around 6-7 hp at the rear wheel and the 140 maybe 7-8 their isnt that much difference between the 125 and 140. I would go the GPX125 from dhz has a lot more power than a 140 or a daytona 125...

And Barnes i heard they came down even lower than that just the other day im pretty sure.

firstly if you want a 140 forget about lifan... yx140 is the one you want.... tho the ignition might not power light... and the lifan one will... but they yx is a much tougher engine and you can put a lifan ignition in it

125's are very mild engines... and 140's are only a little bit better.... for a posty bike I wouldn't go any smaller than a lifan 150... but ideally you'd want a z155 or a yx160. But the lifan 150 is a very cheap motor, only a tiny bit more than a 140.

And NO pitpro are not good to deal with... you're best choice is get it shipped from DHZ, DHZ won't screw you over and offer great prices and great customer service

Like DvdRip said, the Lifan 150 is probably the best engine to use for this sort of mod.

HOWEVER, one thing you need to consider, is that these engines arent just a bolt in swap in to postie bikes... quite a bit of modification and fabrication is required to fit one in....
Do a quick search, there are a couple of good threads that explain all the work required to slip a lifan into a postie bike...
