Hello
I am in the middle of preparing an XL 75 for rego and am looking for a few nice mods for it .
Does anyone know if any chinese barrels will fit? What bore and stroke does it have?

We're not the type of community to laugh at other peoples bike because we know what they mean to ourselfs and to others.

Definently get some pics up.

Welcome to Miniriders mate.

dont know about chinese stuff, but powroll in the us do big bore pistons, cams, etc for building smoking hot xr/xl75's. And dont worry, no one will laugh, actually i'm jealous, who wouldn't want a registerable xr75?

They've got a 48 mm bore x 41.4mm stroke ...

They can be bored to around 51.25 mm before a sleeve is needed ... then the cases need to be bored for the bigger sleeve ... I've bored a '73 model XR75 out to 54 mm using a Powroll 96 cc kit ...

POWROLL PRODUCTS FOR THE HONDA XR75 1977-1979

Engines Only has a big BBK for the CRF/XR80 but they're higher priced ...

ENGINES ONLY Products for CRF and XR80

As already stated , you can buy 50 mm bore kits from powroll , a stroker crank , a cam , springs , pipe but they're pretty expensive ...

An XR100 cam has more lift ... The_GDFP is up on mods using other parts sourced from various places ...

There's TB , Hot Cams , Megacycle , Web etc cams which are all cheaper than Powroll's cam ...

An XR80 45 mm stroke crank might fit but I'm not 100% sure if the '77 XL/XR75 cases are wider internally than the '73 ~ '76 cases ... they should be if they have a 5 speed tranny ... The 80 crank is wider than the '76 and earlier XR75 4 speed crank so they don't fit earlier 4 speed / slinger model cases ...

You can port the head , lighten the rocker arms , fit a bigger than stock carb (a Genuine 22 mm Keihin or the "24" mm TB copy carb) and add a performance pipe ...

The DG copy snake pipe is the best ... but will be too loud for the street without a baffle ...

Heck, these lads don't even laugh at ME, much, so it's likely your little XL won't draw ridicule. I've appreciated the lack of label-*****s among the membership here.

At least in the US, for sound regs, the XL's had a comically small ID intake manifold. Like 16-17mm. Maybe yours don't, but it's worth a check.

XL has the wide-ratio 4-speed, pretty awful. 5-speed should fit. Late 75/80 has the better 5-speed. 100 has creeper first, OD top.

I've fitted plenty of the jugs with KLX110 sleeves, 62mm OD, and 57-58mm KLX-type pistons. 106-115cc depending on bore and crank, before stroking. I posted a thread with pics, some where on here. One of the less-lazy-lads might point it out;) Gotta switch to external head oiling with that big a case bore (or move the oil hole to 100 spot), but you can do a remote filter and cooler that way, too. Piston squirter for durability, if you add the Tak pump.

XR100 cam, as stated, has a MM more lift, and is good for moderate builds. A little port work, back-cut valves, multi-angle seat job help make up for the little valves. Slightly more duration on the TB cam. Web 69/68 is my favorite for a stouter build. Requires spring/retainer kit, to avoid mashing the exhaust guide and seal.

Late CDI ignition can be fitted, or a Lifan adjustable outer rotor for some zing.

Almost easier to fit a 100 engine and 115-120 kit and be done with it, if you aren't in to major overhauling.

100 crank will fit any where the 80 one will, with main bearing swap, and is easier to add Akunar offset pin to for stroker on the cheap. Use the 26/25/26 KLX special pin, 94mm rod, and have 51mm stroke in a stock 100-height jug. Gotta make sure the crank and cam sprockets math out, as the 100 uses a bastard 15/30 combo.

Thanks for all the info I like the sound of a 5 speed. And I will check the size of the intake. I have changed all elecs to 12v but i am still wiring. Had to import tyre from the US as no trail dot tyres in OZ. Will be sealing the fuel tank this week as it has a small rust leak. Then some paint.
The colours are not my first choice I have just added white gaurds i think the seat should be black not red. Any sugestions? Would a BMW badge on the tank look out of place?

That's 100% right ... What one man thinks is junk ... can be another mans pride and joy ... That's why you rarely see me knocking anyone's bike ... It's how the owner values it that matters ...

The little spud ain't so bad. Heck, nicer start than a few in my garage:) Bolt-on 1980's CR80 front end adds some travel and a 17" rim, if that's any help. XR100 twin-shock arm bolts up, is a couple inches longer, too.

Tank leak can be fixed a couple ways. I prefer POR-15 kit over the Kreem. Others may not.

BMW badges? Well, it does SORTA have a GS flair to it...

LOL. There are a couple more attractive arm options as well. Most take a little more modding, though. 100 trans has a 1st gear like the noodle-delivery Chinese motors, but not as bad if geared tall for street use. 80 trans is a bunch tighter, if you swap it in.

Hi nice project:grinning-smiley-003
