A friend let me bring home his XR50 for my grandson to ride around the yard. Installed a new carb and tires before I brought it home.

After several days of riding, it started to stall and then wouldn't re-start. Would have to let it sit a while and then try again after it cooled down.

Today, I pulled the carb, checked the float, cleaned the main jet. Also washed the air filter element and re-oiled. Drained the fuel tank, cleaned the screen, filled with fresh fuel and some Seafoam.

Bike started up and I let it idle for about 10 minutes while I put away the tools and bolted the seat and plastic back on. Revved the engine, sounded and ran good, took it for a short test ride around the yard, when I stopped at the mailbox, it stalled and I couldn't get it restarted.

Pushed it back to the garage and am stumped as to what is happening and why.

I checked all the electrical connections and made sure they were clean and tightly crimped.

Any thoughts as to why it wants to stall and not restart again ?

TIA.

Check your valve clearences??? Or maybe clean the craby again... How did you clean it the first time? Maybe even pull the stator cover off and check the stator for damage? Just a few ideas (this is assuming youv'e checked you got good fuel flow to the carby and you've got spark)

Did you remember to turn the choke off? Sometimes it's the really obvious stuff :)
