Hello guys, I own a Yamaha Chappy LB50 with automatic transmission. It runs really well but I got a problem. It goes to 30 km/h to change from 1st to 2nd gear and it takes some time on 30 km/h before it change it. Also it changes the gear easier on downhill and harder on uphill. Anyone got an idea how I can solve my problem?

Have you given the transmisson oil a good flush out ?
It might be holding in gear due to being gunked up inside ?
My LB80 does hold 1st gear a bit though, it changes into 2nd at around 40 km/h, they weren't known for being smooth on gear changes

Well I've changed the transmission oil (I used 10W30 as said in the service manual) but nothing changed. Also the gear changes are smooth they doesn't knock but it just take a hard time until it change into the 2nd gear.

With mine i generally ride it so when i'm getting close to the gear change speed i back off the throttle let it change up then pull on the throttle again.

I don't think there's any adjustment's that can be made,

http://projectmopedmanual.info/Manuals/Yamaha/Yamaha LB2 Chappy service manual.pdf
Page 42 in the manual say's the clutch spring length is 32mm, minimum is 31.8mm
And the friction plate's are 3.5mm thick, minimum 3.2mm
There are varying thickness clutch thrust plates available from yamaha to adjust the plate spacing if it's not within spec's.

The clutch shoes are 2.5mm new, minimum is 2.00mm

I have never pulled down the 2 speed auto transmission to find out how it work's so i can't really help you much more, sorry
