184 kit Short or Long Skirt

Hey all,

Getting a 184 kit for the yx. Just wanted to get some opinons on the short or long stroke 184 TB kits that are available.

Pro's/Cons. Riding they are suited to etc would be great. Cheers.

no way, shorter skirt is more power, less drag.

but pretty sure mm is talking about the cranks available with the kit

short skirt is more ka booom too .

They dont come with cranks ? that i know of..

150 with 64mm = 170cc
160 with 64mm = 184cc

Long skirt for more reliability... That's not to say that it couldn't go bang!!! But longer life

This one for DHZ:

TB 184cc Big Bore Kit

I don't even know if that is the long or shirt skirt version. Classic Honda have the same kit.

Coolie was just saying you could get the other one as well. Just want to make sure I'm getting the right one for the riding I do.

kits should be cheaper from classic honda MM or even from reefy.

what bike and engine is this for MM. is it a yx or a 155 or 160ho.. always go the long skirt version for engine life

Back on topic, might be worth asking DHZ if they can ship it with the other piston?

no and get the long skirt it is more reliable

but reefy does get just as good life out of the short skirt and on the yx donk i think you need to run the short skirt anyway

Ahh anyone know if you have to go short skirt on the yx motor?

dunno it might have just been on the yx150 where they had to run a shorter barrell

These kit's aren't for the YX150/ Only go on YX160.

Stuff it I'm going to get the long skirt. Worse case can sell it and get the other one.

Would still like to know if that brake lever will work. I was looking last night and it kind of looks like it would work. Definately fit. Just not sure if it bends out enough the clear the case.

Sorry to dig this one up but have you guys got any more feedback on the piston skirts. Gonna get a new piston for my GPX with a 178cc (64mm barrel) and V2 head.

From the comments I'm leaning toward the long skirt, but hey I'm open to suggestions. This is what I'm looking at currently:
