Carburetor measurements:

Hey guys

I'm completely new here (and to anything with an engine for that matter) and I have a simple question that's puzzling me...

When a carby has it's measurements (26mm, 32mm 19mm etc) what exactly is being measured?

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but like I said I'm COMPLETELY new!

A carb size is measured where the air inlet (from the airbox) meets the throttle slide, not at the opening (as some taper down from the opening to the slide).

some are not round so abit of maths is involved to work out the size.
