PF2 Frame - BBR V1 Replica build

After completing my billet thumpstar build. I was on the search for another frame to build up.
A PF2 / PF3 perimeter frame!



Not many pitbike advertise up for sale in my area these days, but this came up on facebook market place!

Came back from work and offered him $250, done deal.
-Motor works but pops out of gear
-Missing rear brake set up
-No throttle tube
-Has 12"/12" rims which is a PF3 model, will be running 10"/10"
-Will be replacing everything slowly

Here it is. This is the next day before I hit it with the pressure washer. It was also raining.







Suprisingly these rims weren't buckled!


Elka copy shock that come with these bikes from factory is toast. Leaky and very bouncy, in the bin!


The old trusty 125cc motor, it'll be replaced with either
YX140 with cams, V2 head/ roller rockers
Or
YX160 with cams, V2 head/ roller rocker
I believe that this could be the original motor.
Doing well for 15-20 year chinese engine.

The same afternoon I pulled the plastics off and had a peek of what mess is hidden underneath.



Few zipties on the chassis, electrical tape here and there.
Soon will be deutshplugs and hidden tucked wires.






Not too bad really, just needs a good degrease and elbow grease.

Well here is it all pulled apart.
I have already degreased it with some petrol and a lot of scrubbing.



Petrol works wonders, there we're some clear anodizing or clear coat that was yellowing, that helped getting rid that ugly stuff.



Dummied up the 280MM DNM shock.
Plan is to make this thing work ASAP with parts off another frame to get the ball rolling!

Quickly got to work and made some progress, no broken bolts on the chassis but a tonne of nasty threads.

I had recently bought a tap and die kit, time to make use of it, cleaned all threads and bolts.



Would have to admit it, for a 'China bike' its some what good quality in comparison to some pit bikes that are sold online these days!
Not sure about big jumps, but its ?better than thin tube steel.


Quickly dis-assembled the front end on the other bike that I was going to fix and sell.
Put it on the perimeter frame.
-45/48 tripple clamps
-550MM forks
-10" front wheel
-Dunlop MX53 tyre.

Just like my Thumpstar build, I converted from 12mm to the beefier 15mm axles. Heres the process.

Throw it into the bench vice.
Mark out with sharpie or scribe evenly.


Use of a die grinder and patience burr down your marks.


Test fit the axle every few 30 seconds of work, making sure you dont go too far.


You have to burr inside of the adjuster for the flange of the bolt and nut to fit inside.


Snug fit, quite satisfying!


Heres the adjuster, no before photo but here is the after. All burred out.
They're cheap on ebay, but this is easy enough!

I have got some parts on order
-240mm x 15mm rear axle
-12" front rim
-220mm front brake rotor

What I still need to buy in future are
-Rear brake set up
-Front brake set up
-660mm adjustable forks
-15mm front axle
-Decide on what engine to use

All these parts should arrive when i come back from work

How's the progress on the build, looks like u haven't updated it for a while....as for the China build quality, yes I to an surprised with the one I have(looks very similar to yours-mine is 2014 mod) it's held up very well copping 10yrs of abuse from 3 of my kids so far& still all original.
