i'm looking at using a longer swingarm on my drag bike project and if possibly a thinner but larger wheel and tyre, kind of like the parts on a pitbike.
what i need is any swingarm lengths from the longest points, the width of the hinge (forget what it's called, the tube that connects the arm to the mainframe) point, the width and bolt size of the shock pickup points and the width of the swingarm at it's widest point.
cheers
chris

mate are you going to weld up a custom frame to suit or something

the swingarm i have at the moment will probably only fit the rims off the mini r1 pocket bike. these are really wide and hard (;)) to find. my swingarm also has a bit of surface rust in it in places i can't get to.
i want to use something like mini motard rims to reduce the chance of the tyres expanding at high speed.
that way i could also use sprockets that don't have to be modded to fit the rims i can use.

yeh sounds good but what about the frame is going to be a custom job

nah i'm keeping most of the original frame, just have to cut and weld the motor mounts a bit, cut of a few brackets and put a firewall over the motor area.
compared to other pocket bike frames this one is really good. all the welds are good and it's made with better metal than the others.

so then your going to make up a swing arm or looking to buy one depending on the sz

yes, also depending one price. i saw lengthened swingarms to suit the mini r1 frame and rims that were $190US
if they're that much i'll modify what i've got.

how do you know its better material then the others? because there is mild steal, chromoly and alloy!... and i dont think it would be better then a thumpstar or pitster..

and those aren't the types of frames i'm talking about about. for what i want, my frame is light years ahead of a dirtbike frame.
i was talking about pocket bike frames, which are mild steel and made of tiny tubes and are very easy to snap or bend and the welds are crap.
mine is made of much thicker metal, more braces and the welds are good 'row of coins' welds.
