hey guys,
i went to a party on sat night and there was a dj there with all his gear, he let us muck around with it for practically the whole night. It was great fun, and a good exprience as i got taught some tricks of the trade....

Really wanna get into it but not as a job, or full time, more like a muck around hobby type thing, mix and play around with music.

Anyone on here into djing? I jst bought some dj software for the computer, that is suppose to have everything a dj has but its all jst in a computer program, anyone got sumthin like this?

Just want peoples input on it, and if anyone does it jst as a muck around hobby type thing?

cheers.

yeh well im still at school and saving for a car so computer software is really the only option for me..

in a few years i wanna get a whole setup but for now, im just gonna do it for a il fun, nothing serious jst muckin round with beats songs and mixin.........

The use of computers has added to the number of stooges who can afford a dj setup and try to be cool, but cant mix for ****. All they seem to mix is just song into song and nothing else.

end spiel..... :)

100% correct,
DJs today aint what they used to be thats for sure....

i played around with Traktor for a little while did some mixing for different things,
mostly mixing a playlist of songs into one huge song,
all for personal use,

Yes myself is very into DJ'ing

Have had all programs on the computer for many years, and also have a complete setup of DJ Decks and a Mixer.

Great way to listen to some great music when you mix it yourself and let others enjoy it, also by having a home setup you are able to try new things.

Not the most cheapest hobby once you buy the real stuff though :p:p

I had Traktor Pro, Ableton Live and Virtual DJ.

You can get all the features on the program, then makes it a whole lot easier when you assign keys for the functions, but I rather use the mixer just because i think its a whole lot easier than to look for certain keys, then going through play lists for songs on the computer. When all you need is a big CD wallet, proper index and your set!

You can get some basic entry level gear rather cheap these days. Since mixing music has become so popular these days there have been a lot of cheap dual cd and 2ch mixer packages on the market. Even toys r us were selling them lol. You can also get some cheap equipment on ebay to get yourself a hands on start.
