hey people

can someone explain engine case boreing a little to me ?

does it cost more for the case to be bored then the cylinder ?

if i was to use a 63mm piston would i need the engine caseing bored to 63mm or a bit bigger ?

For engine case boring , you have to strip the entire engine to the bare empty cases - remove all the cylinder studs - then put the two case halves back together making sure there's a centre case gasket . Then you measure the outer diameter of the cylinder sleeve and bore the cases to a bigger size to allow it to fit neatly into them . You can only bore the cases to a certain size safely - then you risk weakening the cylinder stud thread holes and the studs pulling out or the cases fracturing . Also , the cylinder stud spacing will govern how far you can bore the cylinder !
