ok as i said quote " so im thinking of replacing the halogen soon with leds just the bulb as i like the plastic faring and what not it looks quite nice "
any help?
also the horn is not working the switch is i dunno

headlight,
what wattage globe is fitted to the headlight ?
and what are the minimum legal requirement for a headlight/bulb for Rec Reg ?

horn,
are you getting positive power at the horn ?
and is the horn earthed to the frame, not the forks ?

if on both counts your answer is yes, then it may just need some adjusting.

on the back of the horn, you will see a small phillips headed screw.
start the bike and tighten the screw, go an 1/8th of a turn at a time, see if that makes it work.
if you cant get it working within 2 full turns i would be contacting the seller on ebay.

these adjusting screws on the horn are preset at the factory, and sometimes loctited in place.
most of the time you will get one that works straight out of the box,
but it also depends on what voltage they were set at when they were made.

ok, i would stay with 35 watt if you can, it wont strain the lighting coil.
a 35 watt led will put out as much light as a 100 watt halogen, roughly

i will see what i can find in the way of a replacement led for you.

that bulb you pictured, is a standard incandescant 35/35, not a halogen.

xenon blue, (very clean white light with blue tinge, not unreal in wet weather), $5.90 delivered, ex china
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BA20d-12..._Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a824ce528&_uhb=1

Halogen 35/35 bulb, (yellowish white, very close to daylight)ex australia, $6.90 delivered
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Headligh..._Parts_Accessories&hash=item257522169f&_uhb=1

LED , (clean white) ex Australia, $35 ish, (make an offer) delivered,
i would ask the seller for a photo, showing how bright, and how far the led bulb shines before buying this one
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BA20D-LE..._Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a82fc6dc1&_uhb=1

the only thing that may be a problem with the Halogen/Xenon bulbs,
is the heat they radiate, it can discolour/melt the plastic headlight lenses.

that last link i posted above with the LED bulb, i could find it a lot cheaper ex china too !

if you aren't in a big rush for it,
i could look into making a decent LED upgrade bulb replacement ?

do you know if the clear lense can come off the headlight you have ?

before i go to bed what would you choose?
im kinda leaning to the halogen or the led

#1 hmmm maybe
and#2 yes i think the lense comes off

i would buy the Halogen bulb, (middle link) and see how it goes for the moment,
it will be a fair bit brighter than the incandescant bulb, the headlight seller supplied.
it is also cheap, just incase it runs too hot and you dont end up using it?

thanks craig ill try get it soon
if it runs to hot would you like it?

hey umm how much do you want lol
maybe like a h4 plug or something
cheers

i have been doing a bit of research on making a Led bulb that will fit into your current light housing/fairing.
i have found some 30w and 50w Leds, i'm just trying to work out which projector lense would work the best with it.
it will also require a step up driver for the led too,
they are about double the size of a matchbox, and can be remotely mounted, but they're needed to supply 30 odd volts to run the Led.

your first link, hmm, 60w halogen has a lot more heat radiated than a 35w.
and also a 60w bulb would over work the lighting coil too, wouldn't last too long

the 5w Cree led in the second link is very basic, it's light output is pretty low, up to 750 lumens,
i think they would be pushing it to get that much light from it

my 27w led light i used on my Fuse, puts out about 2160 lumen, that's what the seller states.
i still think somewhere around that would be a bare minimum

lol the 30 odd volts most likley not going to work but i'll chuck one more link down and if its not a go ill go to my local autobarn and others to see what i can find

in that link, the seller wrote;
'These do not give a good beam pattern as original bulbs but give a nice Xenon white colour'

i think what he is trying to say is, that they aren't very bright, but looking at the them
when the headlight is on, it's very white, lol

the step up driver i mentioned in the post above yours is a little electronic circuit,
it uses the 12v output from your reg/rect (red and green wires) on the input side, and converts it to 30 volts.
the 2x wires on the output side of the driver then go directly to the led which would be mounted inside the headlight lense.

how much do these step drivers cost and i'll go check out the shops tomorrow after school
