That looks sweet, I know which one of the two I would prefer:grinning-smiley-003
You got that mono shock fiished yet, notice the twins are still on it?

nah didn't get a chance to finish the monoshock yet, with him out riding it for 2 days.
i just put the standard ones back on for the moment.

i got another couple of pics today of the seat, better ones.

Matt and Dan, at Affordable Motor Trimmers, Norfolk rd, Marion.
i have known them for years, they did it for me without charging labour.

i spotted some vinyl there that i want used when i get my Fuse seat retrimmed too, some very nice/custom looking stuff.

i like the custom silencer and exhaust how did you get so perfect cone shapes ive been trying to make a silencer for my suzuki ts185

thanks mate,

i used a couple of different ways to make them
the first way, see post #108 , slot the pipe then hammer/dolly the pipe over a solid bit of steel rod.
the end that will end up narrow, can also be clamped in a vice and carefully closed up, then dollied up.

the second way, is the just cut a v section out of your pipe (smaller than what you need)
then work on closing the big gap up at the end.
once it is pretty close then it is just a matter of a final trim up to make the 2 edges butt up perfect, and weld it together.
having 1 weld/join down the length of the pipe is easier to hide.
put the join at the bottom

yer mate i tried a couple of ways iv'e had no luck only a ugly what kind of welder do you have and nice built so far

my welder is just a 13 year old CIG 180 Mig, cost me $1200 back then, and i use .6 wire, and Argoshield light

so are your making a Silencer or an Expansion Chamber ?
silencer/mufflers are very easy.

Well for now i'd like to make a silencer cause my bike didn't come with it when I got it and one day a would like to make a Expansion Chamber one day

Yes something like that my father has a ts185 as well and he has the silencer I could probably try to copy it.

nah nothing done to it in the last week.
too many other things happening atm.

I just read this whole thing and Wow,this is a nice build.. You have some skills dude :D I have one of these too, but I haven't done much to it. Just a set of pro tapers of my pit bike and new throttle and brake to fit it. Also painted the frame, wheels and engine black again and got rid of the stock air box and fitted a new filter and spark plug.

I measured my stock exhaust. Where it comes out of the head it's 7cm around and 5cm where it goes into the muffler at the back.

With some more mods, have a look at clutch mods you can do and also you can get the rear drive shaft of a 50cc scooter , I think it's a jog but i'm not sure and that will give you a bit more speed.

You have really good skills and it's good that you're spending time with the young fella and teaching him how to ride and work on his bike.well done :)

thanks mate
i have just posted on your PW thread.
yeah the moped rear diff slows down your top speed, but makes it accelerate faster for better holeshots etc.
im not sure about you exhaust measurements though,
yours has a stock exhaust, mine is about 20% bigger than standard.
if you need a hand finding parts for it let me know.

i received some bars ends from china the other day, $4 odd the pair, inc delivery.
just trying to get it ready for the track if we ever get there.
i had to chop the ends out of the newish/undamaged grips...
the PW50 bars are 19mm, so the bar ends were to big to fit inside.
i found a long 6mm bolt and put it through the bar end, then locked it up with a nut on the other end.
then i chucked it in the drill press and machined it down with a series of coarse, medium, fine files, to 15mm so it would fit the bike

Hmmm, something has got me thinking now.
just spotted a PW80 for sale/swaps, and am considering swapping the PW50 for it.
i think i need to ask for some extra $$ ?

Cj seems keen to try the PW80, he'll need to learn gears, and footbrake.
i dont think he'll have too many dramas though ? ! ?
maybe the height difference, the 80 is about 135mm taller ?

might give him a call.....
