nah, dont worry about it, lol
it think it's about 5 or 6 anyhow

went to fit the freshly painted bars on today, and thought i had better paint the riser clamps,
i cleaned, prepped and painted them, then thought the top tripples needed a fresh coat of paint to match.
all done, and drying now.

i have dropped the standard linkage bar out of the rear end, and swapped the custom longer one in.
it is now sitting approx 50mm higher at the back, swingarm/chain, sprocket alignment looks good, no huge angles.
but, the bike leans at a decent angle now when using the side stand, (needs lengthening)

when i painted up the bar clamps, i painted another pair at the same time, to add in as bar risers (20mm)
(that's why there were 6 in the pic above)
i found 4x longer Unbreako Socket head bolts, 12.9 grade, in my bolt collection.
i have the bars and clamps sitting back on loosely now.
i sat on the bike and it feels pretty good at that height now

here is a comparison shot of the longer rear linkage bar against the std one.

and a pic on the bike loosley put together.
a few bits still need cleaning/painting, eg the swingarm, the brake drum stay, the brake actuator rod.
the rear shock, and maybe a couple of other bits too?

here is the new height at the rear, the forks might need some longer springs fitted next ?

now i'm going to pull it apart again, to clean/paint etc and do a final reassemble

and an after raising it shot-

and the bar clamp/risers

Coming along nice! they tuff old bike them ds80's :)

yeah they certainly are,
i would like to see my Atomik Fuse in 27 years time !! lol

Damn that looks mint. Done a wicked job.

A couple years older and would be sweet for VMX.

nah, it's only 41 degrees under the verandah where i'm working on it.
42.3 degrees in the city, on the radio not long ago

and i have an 85 DS80 parts bike too, that would be fine for VMX,
i could swap frames with that, but i wont.

i have just got back from Show and Go Motorcycles down the road, where i bought a new front brake lever for the DS, cost $10.95
the one that was on there was off something bigger, and was about 1.5" too long.
might have been a spare from my IT200?

my '84 IT200 is VMX eligable in all states, even the 85 model is eligable too.

but they run different years too, Pre 75, Pre 70, Pre 85

careful with them levers craig, super easy to break, once my brother passed a footy to me and it hit the lever and it snapped! not even a hard throw either.just a word of warning.

the spare kickstand has now had a cut and shut.
i made up a new extended bottom section for it then welded it on, filed it back, and have just etch primed it.

yeah they are only 6mm thick where they slot into the perch.
i have to file this one a bit too, to clear the brake light switch mounts on the underside.

i fixed up the headlight switch today too.
the tab where the knob fits was broken off.
i had a spare old Yamaha switch in a throttle housing.
the 2x switches both use the same type of slide,
so i pulled it out and fitted the Suzuki contacts into the Suzuki slide and put it back together
you wouldn't know it wasn't the original

Look'n sweet! Watt sort of pre mix oil you runn. Mates ds had back in day ran pennzoil! and o yeah it smell't nice! ;)

i normally run Shell Advance Ultra 2T, full synthetic, mixed at 32/1 in my IT, PW, and the DS

but i also have some Castrol R30 Castor oil too, i love the smell

i use it in my Suzuki 2 stroke lawnmower too,
it's funny seeing peoples faces as they walk past when im doing the lawns, and they smell the racing fuel, lol
