So i have a SSR-125 Manual w/ Clutch.
Ive cleaned carb.
Went to go start it.. with my new exhaust and as soon as i kick start it.. the rpm is really high as in im riding it or something. Thought it was the throttle cable so i took it off my throttle and thats not my problem. Any ideas? is it a carb issue? a jet? was running good before. Thanks everyone!

Or you've accidentally adjusted the idle speed screw while cleaning. Try turning it in a bit and see if that slows the idle down.

@ miniFlighter im not to familiar with carbs that good.. haha im new to pitbikes so im not quite getting what you mean

@KtmJono_777 i tried that with the flat head like the spring jet and the idle didnt change.. so im kind of confused

All good, did you remove anything from your carb when cleaning?

What your describing is usually what happens when you re fit your slide into the carby ass about.

When you cleaned the carb, what exactly did you do? Pull the bowl off and clean all the jets and passage ways? Did you open up the top where the cable goes in?

i cleaned all the jets on my carb and cleaned inside of it and everything. It;s just when i start it it was a really high idle.. so i know it has something to do with the carb. I adjusted the idling jet all the way out and that didn't really change anything so i cant really think of anything else.

and yes i cleaned everything like i said and i did take off the top where you screw it into the carb like the trottle cable.. and i think i messed up something around there cause it isnt my idling jet so maybe something from the top..

Yes this is what MiniFighter is talking about. At the top the cable attaches to the slide, which controls revs by moving up and down. If you put it back in the wrong way it can cause your symptoms. Open it up, pull the slide out and spin it around 180 and put it back in. Make sure the slide slips right down and isn't caught up by misalignment.

same as the other boys said, unscrew the top of the carby were the cable goes thru and pull out the slide(which cable and spring is attached to), when you re-insert the slide still attached to the spring and cable make sure the grooves on the side of the slide go in the correct grooves inside the carby, the slide should sit all the way down the inside of the carby and you should not be able to see thru your carb, if the slide does not go all the way down it is inserted wrong.

okay, so i took off carb and tried to solve issue. It is in position right.. I took off manifold and the seal is ripped.. would this cause a high idle? Yes? No? Any other ideas? Need to get this going! Thanks everyone for your help!

YES!!!! it will

if your manifold gaskets are broken, the engine will suck in extra air resulting in the wrong mixture (high idle) because that extra air has not been through the carby. replacing the gasket is the only fix for this problem.

to verify the slide is in correct remove the air cleaner and check the slide is closing all the way..
if its half open then theres a problem...

the manifold gasket is teared.. and im not good with carbs i tried putting the black piece in the car and when i look through the side of it, the black piece is flush with the top but when i look to the side the black piece isn't in the way its a silver needle kind of thing. There is no black piece thats blocking me to see through the carb all i see is a needle.

As in saying that black piece wont go all the way down to block me from looking through it.

Time to put 2 and 2 together mate. Fix the slide so its in the right way and slides right down into the carb to block the passageway like it should. Then fix/replace the torn gasket. Its not to hard to work it out. All the answers have been written several times now. Put them into action and you'll be back in action! :grinning-smiley-003
