I just picked up a project pit bike and on the side of the motor cover is a screw that appears to move in and out ever so slightly. My buddy told me I need to put a nut on the screw, which I tried today. Once started the screw begins to spin with the nut while trying to tighten. Pic for reference. Thoughts ?
Its your clutch adjustment. What you do to set it is turn the inner bolt with a flat blade counter clockwise until you feel some resistance, back it off 1/8 of a turn clockwise from there. Then whilst holding the inner bolt in that position with the flat blade, use a ring spanner to tighten up the nut to lock the bolt position. The key is to not knock the adjustment whilst doing up the lock nut. If unsure jump on youtube and search for how to adjust a pitbike auto clutch
