oil coolers are designed as crazzy1 said, to cool the oil. taking this into account, oil coolers are a bit of a **** factor if you havent had anything done to your bike with regards to engine mods. when you have modded your motor (weather it be a IRK or HC piston, big bore etc etc etc...) then you should consider getting an oil cooler for your rig. this will keep the oil cooler, thus the motor will be cooler and in turn your components will last longer. hope this clears some confusion in that regard.

due to the simple construction of these motors and the lack of variation in the heads, this means all engines of this calibar can be oil cooled. another alternative whilst not as effective would be to get an oil breather, this will releave pressure in the head AND cool to a certain extent as it allows more of th oil heat to vent. hope this all helps guys.

Cheers, Tony.

irk's are pretty much universal mate, will fit most bikes unless the chinese bring something out thats very "unique"

Cheers, Tony.

EDIT : haha forgot to answer your question hahaha.. yes it will fit your lifan OR your pitpro or anthing else in the "pitbike" range you own :D

Cuthbo: Inner rotor kit has its ups and downs. depends what you do most of your riding. track, trail.. its most effective in motard. if you motor is stock i dont think its a great idea. it elimenates the weight of the flywheel etc. (correct me if im wrong) at the end of the day we can only give u advise, its up to you what you do.

Ok sweet thanks Bones and Crazy. I might go for an IRK first then go oil cooled.
Is it hard installing the IRK urself or pretty straight forward?

kk thanks Mechanic Man. I dont no what to do..maybe ill just keep on riding for a little longer and see how i go and ask around at the track which fellas have them and check them out first hand.

im not 100% sure, the only guys i no that use em is guys i know that race mini motard. and there bikes arnt stock. But i could be wrong. best thing to do is research it.

well with an IRK if you dont lighten your oil slinger there is going to be some big problems, to lighten this it does require some milling and your better off to take this individual component into someone that knows what their doing or better yet take the whole bike to a shop and get them to do it. the IRK as such isnt hard to install no but its the work thats required after this point which can be a little more diffucult.

it has been said that you can crack your casings if you kick too hard with an IRK. but then again people have said this is due to a high compression piston of 12.0 - 1 compression which is much larger than your stock (being 9ish) so this is somewhat a confusing issue as to what is the actual cause of the problem. once again motovert have amn outlaw motor with an IRK and 141cc BORE which is kickable AND has a 9.2 - 1 compression (close to that anyway) so this brings up the question "have motovert strengthened their casings OR is the compression the real problem and an IRK is fine to run independantly?" this is a question i am still waiting for an answer.

in all honesty your taking a risk altering your motor from stock anyway but provided you know this and are still willing you should be fine and expecting things to break.

Cheers, Tony.

is ur engine start in anygear? if not, i dont think this fits! as i was planning on getting one but they said only the model with start in anygear will run it, as the clutch is mounted on the crank shaft! (sorry if im not correct) and yes they are abit off a "****" factor, they dont realy surv a purpos on stock engines

i heard that to bones. like i said before, its all up to you mate. speak to your local bike shop, see what they say, research it and then if you like what you've read and heard take the plunge.

crazzy1 is right and mentioned something i did not. if your motor is not start in any gear you will also have problems with an IRK. seeing as you have a new pitpro and lifan this shouldnt be a problem for you.

to shed some more light on the term "start in any gear" the story is if your motor is clutch on main shaft then you have a start in any gear motor, if its clutch on crank then unfortunatly your limited in your gearing pattern and are not able to start in any gear. this was a major flaw in the beginning of these little motors and as you will notice now 90% of all motors are clutch on main shaft. if your unsure if your motor is clutch on main shaft or not its simple to tell just by looking at the exterior of your motor, if your clutch cable engagment lever is on the top of the clutch casing on the right side of the motor then your motor is a clutch on main shaft, if the lever is located on the FRONT of the clutch casing then unfortunatly you have a clutch on crank setup :(.

for more information on this i made a thread a while back with some questions and answers.

hope this all helps gents.

YEP... unfortunatly thats my problem too... but not too worry im planning on aquiring another bike in the near future... and it will prob be a mso ellite... so for no she will do me fine, im not to fused... after all she does kick all the atomics and orions out the box!!! soooo.... meh

no worries champ, glad to help but dont forget all the other boys like crazzy1 and mechanic-man whom also put in some valid information, if it wasnt for them i feel i would still be stupid hahaha :D thanks lads.

Cheers, Tony.

Thanks boys...this helped me heaps and no doubt helped alot of people on here. Thanks again

I've got a genuine kitaco IRK on my bike, didnt need to have the slinger shaved, and my bike has been running fine with $700 worth of engine mods for 7months.
I've just got a tooth missin on the biggest kick start cog atm.

Ive also got a Kitaco IRK on my thumpstar and there hasn't really been any major work to the motor, Ive read many a thread on a US based fourm and shaving the oil slinger with a IRK install is a BIG NO NO.. My bike has run flawless with the IRK ,

Motor is a start in any gear type, and the IRK's make a huge differance to a motors rev's and torque, and seems to have a big effect on the face aswell, grin from ear to ear.

NOTE:
The real danger with IRK's is the fact the you can advance the motors spark too much and , will pre dentonate the motor as it comes up and will just blow the bottom end out...
