just picked up a 2012 psto t140 for the mrs for chrissy. its been ridin a whole of 3 hrs and has since been sitting in a garage gathering dust. first tried to kick it over , had compression, so i checked the valves and timing and they were working correctly. the plug is getting a spark from either end and the carby seems to be running the fuel threw just fine. threw sum(start ya bastard into it) still nothing. checked my wiring and changed the fuel over. gave it a few kicks but the thing only wants to splutter and splutter and never start. im running out of ideas :/

it may have a blocked up Pilot Jet in the carby ?
that jet supplys the fuel for idle - 1/4 throttle

ahk yeh ill check that thanks... so i should really pull out all the hoses and clean them out?

does the carby have a round fuel bowl on it ?

if so, with the fuel bowl off, the jet on the manifold side of the carby is most likely blocked up, or the port where it screws into.
take the jet out and check all the holes through it a see through.
also look into where it screws in the carby,
the small hole at the bottom of the threaded section, you should be able to see light into the main bore of the carb.

it other jet in the centre of the carby is the main jet

CHEERS MAN. GOT IT STARTED. CLEANED OUT THE CARBY AND JUST TO MAKE SURE IT WASNT THE ENGINE I SWAPPED A CARBY FROM A DHZ 140 AND JUST RAN THE THROTTLE FROM THAT BIKE SO IT WASNT A MAJOR CONVERSION. RAN AFTER A FEW KICKS. COULD TELL IT HADNT BEEN USED IN AGES. THE SMOKE WENT ALL KINDS OF COLOURS THEN WENT NEUTRAL SO PRETTY SURE ITS ALL GOOD .THREW THE CLEAN CARBY BACK IN THEN TO MAKE SURE I CLEANED THE SPARK PLUG AND GAVE IT A KICK AND STARTED FIRST GO. THANKS FOR THE HELP MAN. GUESS IT JUST NEEDED THE FLUSH OUT :)

sounds good.
sometimes, if they sit for a while the fuel evoporates from in the carbys' fuel bowl and can cause problems
it gums up the jets etc

if you need to leave the bike for over a month or so,
i would loosen the drain screw on the bottom of the fuel bowl, and let the petrol drain out.
once it stops dripping, tighten the screw again.

should be good to go next time you ride it.
