Hoping someone on this site can help me. I realise the site is generally for older (adult) kids, but I am after some advice for the younger variety. I have three kids, 51/2, 7 and 9 years old and I am looking for good quality hopefully not-too-expensive minibikes for them. I have had a look at new Yamahas, Hondas and Suzukis but am interested in getting some feedback on both these and the Chinese varieties - which ones are good and worth the $$$, spares availability, reliability, etc. Regards, Duane

the something like a pitpro 110 would your kids.

are you buying 3 bikes, or 1 to share with all three?

if money permits def go Yamaha/Honda etc, cause the thing is, if you spend say $600-$1000 on a chinese pitpro or similair, in 12 months time the thing is gonna be worth $150-$200 plus the general repairs youre going to need through the year,

but a new or even secondhand Honda crf50 / crf70 / yamaha ttr90 / suzuki JR80 will hold its value so much better, after a year or 2 you will be able to sell it for not much less than you bought it, a new 2007 crf50 now is like $1600, but i still see 2004/5 used models selling for $1400!!!

but if your buying 3 bikes than thats gonna be up around $5000 for 3 new bikes,

compared to $2000 for 3 chinas, which is almost dead money once
purchased!

a cheap option for the 7 & 9 year old
2007 110cc PITPRO, DIRT BIKE THUMPSTAR PIT TRAIL - eBay Other Trail Bikes, Trail Bikes, Motorcycles, Cars, Bikes Boats. (end time 10-Sep-07 19:30:00 AEST)

but 3 crf50's would be perfect for all 3 riders!!!!! cause as they keep growing you can keep adding to it to make it more suitable to them, plus adults ride crf50s so theyll never grow out of it, plus when they get sick of it and want a true big bike you can sell them and get alot of your money back if you keep them relatively stock beside high bars etc,

another option for the 5yr old is a JR50, i recently got one for my 3.5 year old, they are on special $999 2006 brandnew, plus like i keep saying in 2 years time if hes out grown it, youll easily get $800-$850 back for it, whereas the pitpro 110 youd be lucky to get $100 back!

heres the JR50 with my 3 yr old on it, the seat and bars can be adjusted up another 1inch higher too,

Cheers

Thanks for your reply - I am interested to know where you were able to get the JR50 for $999 that sounds like a great price. Our young bloke is pretty big for his age and he is already flat footed on the JR50 but can't touch the ground on the PW80. The Suzuki would not demonstrate how much is can be jacked up but said it was about 2". The hard part is I know he will probably grow pretty quickly so it is hard to know which way to go.

Primarily, we are after a bike for him but I already know our two daughters who no doubt will be agitating to also get one to ride. We will probably get a second bike for them but the problem is getting one to suit both!!! An absolute dilemma at this point in time. Duane
