hey guys,

im running a 15 tooth front sprocket and a 41 rear sprocket, the engine is a 125 lifan and 1st and 2nd gear havnt got enough speed. if i want to get more out of these gears should i go a smaller back sprocket say a 35 or lower? doing so i will sacrafice torque for speed yeah? what do u guys reckon i should run? the back rim is also a 12". i want the bike to still be good on the tight tracks tho. oh and the bike is for the dirt. thoughts?

thanx in advance.

run a 17f 37r
it would be good for more speed
dont worry it will still have heaps of torque

im running a 14 front and a 37 rear and its alot better. 1st gear still is very good but half the time i just click straight too 2nd and i am looking at a bigger front sprocket.

i dont think that you will find a 35 or lower rear sprocket anywayz but i could be wrong.

yer dude , go with a 14 front and 37 rear its heaps good ,
my sons bike run that combo and its quik as , my bike runs a 15 front and 41 rear and i know what you mean ,
cheers Rick ,

Depends what sort of riden you do. But i would go at least 1 up on the front to a 16. I'm running 15/39 and it seems to go alright top speed of that gearing was 96kph flat out, but if i'm riden along long straights i'll put a 17 on the front not to sure what top speed is on that. But it's cheaper to change your front sprocket than your rear.

ok. ill try a 14/35 then, if i dont like that i can always change again. thanx for the input.

U may find that a 17T on the front wont fit. Mine rubs on the alloy guard. Not by alot. U could file it out i guess.

what combination of sprokets would be good for lots more speed?

Try a 17 on the front but if you go to tall a gearing your motor may have trouble pushing top gear and the motor will strugle in soft stuff. But in the end it depends on what work you have done to your motor to push what gearing you want to run.
